Roots and Refuge Farm: This is a big deal (Goat Day- Part 1) | VLOG

Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm

Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.

There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

  1. WOW Ben is really growing up. 🙁 I miss him on your vids. He's such a sweet heart and funny to boot!!!
Sniff sniff you got me crying to! I have wanted goats for soooooo long! CONGRATS JESS! CONGRATS! I know how much you loved your others!

  2. How exciting you have goats again. Oh they're lovely from what we could see in the trailer. So happy for you Jess. Just remember a buckling can breed does from 8 weeks old.

  3. As someone who breeds and shows lamanchas, I can tell you that goats bring a certain feeling to your farm that isn’t the same with any other animal. When I heard you say this is a big deal as you were leaning against the trailer…I soooo get it. I can’t imagine life without my herd and I immediately teared up. I’m so happy for you that you have this small yet big part of your old farm life back ❤ enjoy them.

  4. So cool. Just planning this and making it happen is impressive. Keep up the new ideas for some of us regular gardeners to play around with!! Thanks!

  5. So happy you've found your goats. I can't wait to meet them!
You mentioned in a previous video you are dealing with a coldsore. Did you know that Lemon Balm infused oil is amazing for that? Make it as strong as you can. It works like a charm to relieve the soreness and speed up healing!

  6. I was heart sick when you removed your goats. Now I'm so happy you are bringing some new ones to the farm. They brought you so much joy.

  7. It seems like your path is in a big circle. You're coming back to goats again. I bet this is really exciting for you! Enjoy it! You worked hard for this.

  8. Your tears of joy brought me tears of joy for you. I'm looking at getting new goats now too. I'm so excited to see your journey.

  9. We’ve had a rough kidding season this year, so we’re making alterations. The one that may be useful to you is switching to baleage, you have enough animals now and if there’s dairy quality baleage local to you, it will be the most nutrient dense forage available. I’ve taken to hauling portions of bales from the dairy home it makes for a messy truck(and chickens in the bed eating clover leaves) but my does are ecstatic to eat the baleage. (Thinking of your sheep)

  10. You continually have my heart on a roller coaster. It swells with joy at the sight of an epic tree or blazing sunset. Then, it's bouncing along with laughter like bumper cars. Not always, but often enough I've had to learn to be prepared, you'll say or do something so touching that I'm left reeling backwards like someone's kicked my swing, mid-flight. Today, darling friend, I was NOT expecting my "Wild Eagle" car to slam into an "…on the NEXT vlog" at a brake squealing precipice! Well done!❤️

  11. I cried happy tears for you in this video! I know how much your goats mean to you and now to see you have them back makes my heart so happy! Your farm is complete again and your heart, I know, is full! XOXO

  12. I so miss not milking goats! Years ago now, along with three friends of mine, we had three milk goats. We shared milking duties. It worked out great! I loved making cheese and goat milk soaps!

  13. Jess, it warmed my heart so much to see how big a deal it really actually is for you to have these goats in your life. My eyes welled up & got a catch in my throat & everything. I am so happy for you. Also, thank you for letting me/everyone see that dreams can come true. If we recognize our dreams & then work toward them with enough grace, thought & determination. Sending love from New York to you & yours ❤️

  14. You may cry on the next video, but you made me cry on this one. Seeing you stand there looking in the trailer saying this is a big deal. Whew, 😢 that got me. I've been watching your channel a long time so I could feel the emotions of what it means to you to bring goats back to the farm. I'm so happy for you. 🤗

  15. Jess, your look of excitement and the sentimentality on your face brings me inspiration
and so much joy ! Thank you so much for sharing 🇨🇦
