I made this ecosphere last july to see what could survive in this odd environment. It was sitting outside for a while now and i wonder if i should add some glucose to boost the ecosystem or introduce something new via dirt or water that’s been outside

I put a bunch of stuff here, salty water, ash, limestone (so it’s pretty basic), iron-rich gravel, clay, and some marine algae. One of the algae survived while the other one seems dead, some algae colonies (i think) have developed in the dead one. I think it’s because the temperatures dropped and there won’t be that much salt and other stuff in it.

If you want to add nutrients- i suggest a small piece of dead dry leaf or twig or grass, but just a very small amount of one it’ll feed the food chain from the bottom up. And not breakdown quickly. Like the amount of dead leaf that would cover a dime or an equivalent volume in the grass. if you’re trying to tweet, maybe about a third volume and size of a pencil. if you have access to a natural body of Water, you could gather one of these from there -that way you would be introducing some new microorganisms.
