2016 to 2020 (re-mounted in 2017)

If a plant has grown well for several years, don’t fall into the trap of thinking it’s *all* because of good care. Keep things in perspective:
1) Understand your environmental conditions: my staghorn fern has grown to this shape because of the light situation – being close to a large, unobstructed skylight.
2) Try your best with care: because of the plant’s productivity (photosynthesis), I can water it whenever I feel the sphagnum moss is nearly completely dry. I simply take it down and run it under the shower for a minute or two. Once it stops dripping, I put it back up.
3) Let Nature take its course: given that I’m happy with how this plant is working in its environment, I can accept the rate of leaf turnover – I’m sure that every leaf you see in the 2016 photo is gone now and the shield fronds are now 5-6 layers thick.
