I’ve shared over 400 sustainable swaps habits and much more that we could all potentially Implement into our daily weekly and monthly lives but what habits do I still do after trying to live sustainably for over 7 years and what new habits have I implemented after many years of learning evolving and engaging
In other areas of sustainability well in today’s video I’m going to share with you the daily weekly monthly quarterly and now yearly habits that I actually do this video is intended to offer ideas inspiration and guidance for your own sustainable Journeys whilst also acknowledging that this is a process and
Not everything is accessible to everyone so as always take what is applicable to you and simply leave the rest if you want to support the channel and you’re new here then hit that subscribe button and if you lik the video give it a like it really means a lot a quick thank you
To Planet wild for sponsoring a portion of today’s video and for all the work they do on nature protection and restoration grab a cup of tea and let’s get into it recently my daily habits have looked a little different I fully moved into my era of mending creating
And learning new skills I’ve always dabbled with trying to learn new things but I’ve been a little depressed over the past few years and have only reached a point where my mind is actually open to accept new knowledge and is genuinely excited to evolve my sustainable practices from consumption to mending
And creating upcycling and building community so my daily habits have included taking 10 minutes to an hour each day depending on how much time I have to practice new skills I think there is so much power in being able to our own clothes to make them last longer
Or learning to sew to transform a secondhand blanket into a wearable jacket now I’m definitely not there yet but I am working on it I also find green washing really hard to decipher when it comes to our clothes and having the ability to find something I think is
Beautiful something I’ll cherish for a long time but I can’t tell if it’s ethically and sustainably made and then make it myself to be an invaluable skill for me this is one of the most impactful habits I practice daily but there are so many smaller ones that really do add up
And help me to do my part and live in alignment with my values reading 10 pages a day of a non-fiction book has become a part of my evening routine I’ll often listen to a story during the day when I’m setting up shots for filming or
Preparing food for a recipe to be sh so it’s nice to take a few moments in the evening to read up on ways to take care of myself and my brain and learn how to work more effectively so I can get everything done in a more focused period
Or how to make essential tasks more fun while on the surface may not seem connected to zero waste living or sustainability I find it to be fundamental because if we’re not taking care of ourselves we cannot put our best foot forward when it comes to trying to live more sustainably other habits
Include watering my plants with the water I use for rinsing my Sprouts I use unpackage soap bars or refillable bottles for hand soap and other Beauty items like body lotion I choose sustainable Brands when I can and make sure to actually use up the product I bought before considering repurchasing
Small daily habits have impacted Ed my life in a really positive way and I find with less focus on material things I more fulfilled spend more time learning and more time Outdoors doing the things I love and spending time with friends and family when it comes to weekly
Habits I’m still growing spouts each week to boost my nutrients whilst avoiding packaging and the high cost of store-bought Sprouts we have a subscription to a coffee Club here in Denver where we can go to our favorite coffee roasters and fill up our reusable jar with their coffee of the week this
Saves us a few dollars per refill which really adds up while also saving some packaging and supporting a local business that we love any food waste we cannot eat or sometimes forget to use up gets put in our compost each week which is then eaten by our worms and used in
The garden I WR up a meal plan do a cupboard and fridge sweep to ensure we don’t double buy ingredients use up what we have and plan according to what’s left in the cupboards food is expensive and this is something we do not take for granted so by planning each week we can
Try new recipes whilst keeping our food waste to a minimum and using up what we already have I also like to make things like 10 pay each week this saves me a huge amount of money and it also helped me with learning new skills cuz I’m learning something in terms of making a
New food and also packaging plant-based proteins I find can be very difficult to find unpackaged or to be affordable at the same time so for me making something like Tempe is a great way to get in my protein reduce my packaging and save a huge amount of money of course there are
So many more weekly habits that I do that really do add up and help contribute to me trying to live a more sustainable lifestyle whilst also trying to live budget friendly and Frugal saving for bigger goals and just trying to do my part a new monthly habit I’ve been implementing is an afternoon
Dedicated to educating myself on other ways to help and to have an individual impact besides the zero waste practices we can make at home one area I’ve been looking into is nature restoration rewilding and nature protection and I have to say watching Planet Wild’s YouTube videos truly gives me hope that
There is still so much that we can do let me tell you a little more about planet wild in case their work speaks to you like it does me Planet wild is a global community of people that help support monthly missions to restore conserve and protect nature and they
Conduct on-site visits for each new monthly partner they select which you can watch in their short documentaries how does it work well Planet well connects his community with nature protection projects around the world that need funding and your membership and vote goes towards making it happen the work Planet world does shows just
How important Collective action and support is with a growing community of more than 3,000 people they’ve been able to fund and support countless projects fundamental to keeping our planet and its people safe so if you’re looking for an affordable way to support nature restoration then join Planet wild for as
Little as $6 a month which is less than that Netflix subscription so click the link in the description to get started or scan the QR code on the screen and the first 200 people will also get a gifted month with the code sustainably other monthly habits include using my
Compost compost in with worms has been such a rewarding experience and one of the best decisions we’ve made since having our own little garden to take care of so each month I remove the car things that are ready and place them in the bags or raise beds and pots to help
Grow a new set of plants to provide food for the kitchen although we Endeavor to keep our home clean and tidy each week each month we do a big full house clean opening the windows cleaning the floors kitchen bathroom and dusting those hard to reach places I still use things like
Vinegar baking soda lemons and reusable cloths to clean the house I also use a spray for the bathroom which comes in a pod that we can just dissolve in water it’s been claimed that this is supposed to help with Transportation emissions I still use a menstrual cup and reusable
Period underwear which I find to be very helpful but of course this is right for me it might not be right for you and there are plenty of other options out there I also shop unpackaged when possible and try and support my local farmers market but in this economy it is
Quite expensive so I just do what I can and that’s all you can ask of yourself every few months months I’ll also do a no buy month where the rules are pretty simple I just don’t buy anything that isn’t deemed essential for me Bills rent
Food and a gift if there is a birthday that comes up are essential and everything else is merely a want these months do several things for me they remind me that I have everything I need that material items won’t cure a sad day or a moment of frustration and that
Trends are just that fleeting moments where an item or new piece of gear won’t make me any happier than the ones I already own they also help me to save for important things or bigger goals that I’m striving for it’s a nice practice in delayed gratification and a
Lesson in consumption now when I say quartly habits what I’m really saying is seasonal as the seasons change so do the habits swaps and other sustainable practices I Implement in the spring I’m preparing the garden to grow some of our own food I’ll add compost to the Garden
Give everything a good water start some seeds and plants inside and generally spend some time planning out what I’d like to experiment with during that growing season other habits during the other months like Summer and Autumn will be mainly focused on things like what I can prepare to reduce food waste what
Can I preserve in the Autumn that I’ve grown in the summer to eat throughout the winter and the hungry Gap as we move indoors in the winter months then I’ll spend more time doing things like learning skills and mending I’ll also alter what I’m eating to adjust to
What’s in season and locally available while it’s not always possible to eat seasonly I do try my best to stick with it I find it to be more affordable and often the food will taste so much better now yearly habits are definitely new I’m finally settled and don’t see us moving
Anytime soon so I’ve been able to set up my calender to look at the year ahead and see what I can do one thing I do as the winter comes to an end is to fully break down wash and clean my lettuce grow Farm Stand and get it ready for its
Next planting season this is absolutely not necessary if you want to grow your own food you can actually totally DIY your own if you have a little patience in fact this year I’m going to try growing my own starts in the pods instead of buying them to save a little
Bit of money and waste in terms of packaging and transport I’m going to do a full video on this so make sure to subscribe so that you don’t miss that one if you’re interested so while these are the habits that I have been trying to implement that I still do monthly
Daily weekly quarterly and yearly you absolutely don’t have to do all of these you can take what’s applicable to you and honestly leave the rest I would love to hear about what yours are in the comments below if if you’d like to share and if you like this kind of content
Please feel free to subscribe and give it a like if you did like it if Planet World spoke to you check out the description for their membership and the first 200 people will get a gifted month using the code sustainably and you can cancel at any time so thank you so much
For watching I really appreciate it and I really hope to see you in the next video bye

You need a lot more education it seems…..surely you know…..I hope so….that there are many and maybe as much as 75% or more of vegan's and vegetarians who still get sick, disease, chronic illnesses and the like on such a diet? The TRUTH is that the only way to eat is Carnivore and the proof and facts and results are pouring in more each passing day….soon….within a few years or less all people will be Carnivores…..
Wow! I can’t wait to see your video on growing lettuce. Do you have one on making tempeh?
Beautifully shot video, Immy ❤
I always see instructions saying incubate your tempeh into a plastic bag or (a little better) a banana leaf. I've never seen it made in a washable pyrex. I plan to try this. I also have never seen someone make tempeh so thick. Do you have any specific suggestions around making a thicker tempeh in a glass dish?
I absolutely love these zero waste videos from you! One of my favourites. I also want say that YOU were the one who got me into collecting all the veggie/food scraps, not using paper towel as much as before, lights off when not needed, I bought a reusable bakingpaper and so many more other sustainable choises in my everyday life. It’s actually super fun and I feel almost like a kid again who gets to play some kind of game. Thank you for doing such an important job. It truly inspires people to make better choises, for example me!! 🥹
Loved this video, Immy! But hearing you talk about books, remind me of the time when you shared a lot of the books you've read and I miss that because I always loved the books you recommended. Would you consider sharing tha books you've been reading lately? Thanks and have a lovely week❤
You do so much! It’s incredible! You are passionate and determined ♥️
One thing we have implemented in our house the last 4-5 months is the first week of each month we eat by shopping our pantry, freezer or fridge. It may be a leftover feast, it could be the frozen veggies made into a soup the pasta sauce, etc. Then after the week I make a detailed inventory of what we have, what we need and meal plan from there. It is so satisfying not going to the store (with the exception of maybe item or two that I need to complete the meal) and how much room we have in the pantry and freezer as well. It has also made me a more creative cook with the items I bought and how to use them in a new way.
I am watching your post from Iran❤️ and the movie was awesome❤
your new logo is so cute! I'm very much in the "doing what I can" headspace since I'm a student and I can't always make the choices I would want to. but small things like using digital billing, eating seasonally, sorting my waste properly, trying to wash full loads in the washing machine etc make a big difference!
I have to say: I love the Thumbnail! 😍
Can you please do a video devoted to making your tempeh please 🙏🏻 💕
I just recently found planet wild. I love what they are doing. From what I've gathered they are doing impactful projects that support the people on the ground actually doing the work.
i would love to be able to do more of the things mentioned but i have no clue how one can when working full time. at the moment all i can incorporate into my routine is meal planning and buying groceries that way, and knitting. ideally, i would love to have a garden where i could grow some of my own food and compost my food waste.
I loved the art logo <3
Always thought you should get one for your brand, guess it's an artist thing to look for these XDD
Turned out super cute <3
You're so inspiring!
You are such a wonderful inspiration! I love your videos and your outlook on life. Keep up the amazing living. You have a great reach that fills us with warmth! Thank you for sharing 😊
ohhh, seeds, seeds!!! i am probably a little behind with the peppers and tomatoes 😪
thanks to your older video i am doing monthly pantry and freezer checkups. It is very useful thing
Loving 😍 these videos 🎥 Immy!
It's wonderful to see the changes throughout the years and seasons. I'm focusing on more seasonally now, especially with my life – becoming more intune with mind🧠, body 👁️ and nature ☀️🌿
Where is your calendar 🗓️ from? It's lovely 😍
Could you do a video 🎥 about your upcoming No Buy Challenge?
Could you do a series on what your making knitting 🧶 and crocheting?
Do you think that the couple of years of depression were from gut health? What I mean is, could low vibes be from the body struggling to adjust mental functions for lack of certain nutrients? (I was vegan for about a decade and suffered depression most of that time. While this isn’t the case for all it seems to be a thing within the vegan communities, to me.)
Thanks!
I wanna learn how to mend clothes so I can do more second hand shopping
I love the new logo! Will there be stickers?
love this! your garden setup is GOALS. also planet wild is the coolest sponsor I've ever seen on youtube by far!
I’m so excited for your spring videos about gardening, composting and seedlings !!!
Hi. I'd love to know where to find that ceramic tower planter, it looks awsome.
Question for you Immy: How do you keep track of the sustainability habits you are doing in day to day life? You seem to enjoy tracking your habits and it seems to help you develop new ones.
I've wanted to find a way to keep track of my growth and learning on my sustainability journey. When I look back I can see how much I've progressed but it isn't clear how much I've progressed and how long it took to get there, especially with skills that scale up, like my single-use plastic use for example. I'd love to have a way to take stock every 4-6 months to look at my current sustainability habits and find places I could improve.
If you have any suggestions on the matter I would appreciate it! I love tracking what I'm doing and it's so satisfying looking back at how much I've grown, but I've found it quite hard to regularly survey my sustainable practices. Thank you 🙂
