Decided to do a test run in a cleaned-out peanut butter jar before I get my “nicer” jar/tank/whatever I decide on. Just scooped a bunch of stuff from my pond. This is only day 3, so it’s still pretty cloudy, but already there’s TONS of life!
Opinions: should I try to make it a totally closed ecosystem (full lid), or just do a mesh lid? I figure at least at the beginning, some gas exchange is probably a good thing while everything settles.

Pop an aquatic plant in and have yourself an ecosphere!
