Beth Chatto was spot on when she coined the expression ‘right plant right place’ : case in point here is this Melianthus major (with the ubiquitous #cockerpoo for #scale!) : unharmed by recent frosts (even continuing to put on new growth!); it is thriving & has easily out-competed all other planting in the bed which is only about a third of the depth of the #foliage!
