It wasn’t until my goji berry seedlings were all at least 12″ tall that I discovered they reproduce in volume via runners. Is there any way this can be mitigated before they are planted out? How deep would a barrier need to be? Can productivity be adequate if they are planted in containers?

I want to plant the bushes against my garden fence… which is just a few meters from our property parameter fence. We have blackberries all along this area that I am clearing, and I don’t want to have to go through this all over again with goji berries if I walk away and stop gardening for a few years.

I’m in Zone 8A (Vancouver Island). The strain is “Shanghai Express”. I’m surprised that the supplier doesn’t have anything to say about runners on [their website](https://www.westcoastseeds.com/products/shanghai-express-goji), but maybe they’re not as big a deal as I’ve been led to believe. Help me out here!
