Getting to a happy place with your houseplants requires looking more deeply:
1️⃣ Look at the plant: it made this corner his home, adding to the overall aesthetic of the bathroom.
2️⃣ Look up: #whatmyplantsees a skylight and a small window bathe this room with indirect light all day, allowing this plant to be productive.
3️⃣ Look for life: a productive zz plant will push up new stems every once in a while (not shown: all the decaying stems I’ve cut off over the years)
4️⃣ Look closely: after a few years, some stems will need some support. Use a soft rubber tie and bamboo stake to give them a lift (and don’t whine about it)
5️⃣ Look back: phone cameras allow us to document the journey. My book features the story of this zz plant, which spanned just over 2 years. Now we’re at 4 years together.
