Slowly turn your head to the right then make a big smile with your teeth showing now raise your eyebrows capture complete all right so here we go this is the Apple Vision Pro I picked up one of these you might be wondering why but I’m specifically interested in how this can

Work in the realm of 3D or for artists or for other creatives and I have a handful of ideas and I’m hoping more applications are released for it but I figured for now let’s get this unboxed try it out I’ll give you my initial Impressions and there’s one specific

Thing that I want to have created for this based on something that I saw directly in the store while checking out the Vision Pro I am so looking forward to this I did the in store demo and if anything I’d recommend at least trying

Out the end store demo so you can see it for yourself I’m telling you right away this is easily the best quality just visually that I’ve seen of any VR headset that’s out there so far the pass through isn’t as good as I would have liked it to have been I don’t

Know if it was in the store or what but this is this is what I’m talking about right here and basically what they’re going to do is they they fit this to me specifically I scanned my face before purchasing this so that get an idea of the measurements for my head and it’s

Going to allow them to understand what size head strap do I need as well as little face piece but if at any point I need to adjust these I can bring in the store and swap those out now check this out it is so freaking cool front cover

There this little soft cover protective cover for the glass front screen I’m sure you’ve probably seen a bunch of the V other videos from uh MKBHD and others that are out there the I have a feeling they’re going to release a more affordable version in the next year

That’s going to maybe tone down the screen maybe remove this screen entirely but so far just from the demo experience that I had it was amazing absolutely amazing so here let me see so here here’s the headset I’m going to put the this back on I I’m known to break things

So I’m going to try my best to obviously not break this very expensive piece of tech just for my demo the interactivity of this was just mindblowing to me yes you can do that with the quest three and it looks pretty good on the quest 3 this

Is just like on another level of amazing to be honest and here’s the Dual Loop band so it’s going to come with the typical head strap that I think you’d see on most VR headsets and honestly this is probably the one that I’m going to be running with the most until

Someone like Boba VR comes out with their own headset this is the one that’s the Dual strap it’s going to give you a little bit more stability and not weigh so much on the front of your face it definitely weighs a good bit on the front also unlike the quest headsets

There there is a separate battery on its own that you’re going to have to carry in your pocket and this thing is relatively Hefty and heavy so you’re definitely going to put this in a pocket pocket or have some sort of 3D P printed belt loop or something like that for

This and it’s got a cable here that will directly power the headset so there’s nothing you know it’s the headset doesn’t run on its own you have to have this battery attached to it in order to Power It Up what’s interesting also is the face covers here are magnetically

Held in place so I’m assuming we can swap those out or maybe that’s something that you can more easily swap in and out if you need to or if you have other people that are you know multiple people and one household looking to utilize and use this device all right so I’m going

To plug in the power adapter on the side of the unit here took me way longer than it should have all right so it’s going to go through a setup process uh I need to bring my phone nearby so I can get synced up with that uh I’ll connect up

With you guys once I get the whole setup process set up I mean who doesn’t want to be who doesn’t want to be Iron Man right slowly turn your head to the the right then make a big smile with your teeth shown now raise your eyebrows capture complete oh my god it

Worked oh my god it worked all right so I’ve got it set up I’ve got a screen recording being recorded from inside the headset here so apologies if it’s shaky or the quality isn’t great you look with your eyes which is crazy and I can pinch and move to move

Between menus here it’s uh it’s kind of crazy it gives this weird like fogginess um it it’s definitely a 3D projected video image I’m wondering how you’re going to be able to edit these spatial videos like am I going to be able to do that on the headset or on my

Computer maybe uh Final Cut Pro I don’t know and basically you just look around and click it’s very weird not having inputs I’m so used to having controllers for inputs for this the pass through also as I mentioned before it’s good it’s it’s may be better than the quest 3 but not

By much but the the just the visual Fidelity of this is amazing oops I’m I accidentally I’m I saw someone else mentioned if you’re a hand talker this is going to be an issue because I am definitely a hand so I’ve been using this now for a little over 24 hours and

I have to say it’s been a pretty amazing experience with how Snappy the UI is for the most part uh it’s definitely a better U UI experience I’ve seen on the quest Pro the pass through like I mentioned it’s nothing to write home about just yet it’s slightly better than

The quest 3 but not by much the field of view is definitely a bit tighter than what I’ve seen on the quest 3 but uh just the overall workflow of how this works and interactivity of it is pretty mesmerizing with the eye focus and the hands definitely takes a little bit to

Get used to but there is some drawbacks by not having a dedicated input device or something at least that I could use to interact with within certain applications all right but let’s take a look at one of the apps that I wanted to show you here the first one is polycam

That I downloaded and this is going to allow you to view your 3D Assets in an immersive space which is just incredible here so I’m going to take this uh angel statue give it a second here it is I can go into the immersive view obviously I

Can like spin this around and look at it and walk around it which is really cool or go into the immersive view with this and scale this up and then start oh there’s my Roomba it’s a really old wedding gift for my wife and I wedding

And then I can position this around and move it around here it’s a little finicky uh the controls here so to get used to I think this is all going to improve since a lot of these apps this is the you know the first iteration of this and they’re going to be getting

Their hands on it the first time that we’re getting our hands on it with these but it’s still just really impressive to be able to see and interact with this sort of thing so here’s another cool look at an environment this looks like an aerial scan that you can get a better

Look at here in this augmented space so it’s much more immersive than augmenting reality over your phone projecting somewhere you’re you’re actually seeing it and able to move all around the object here one thing I’m really looking forward to from the polyam team is seeing if they’re able to build an

Actual 3D scanning application with the built-in cameras here I believe that’s going to be possible we’ll have to wait and see also to close apps that you’re in you just go in the little corner here and click close and it’ll close that out or here in Safari window I can close

That out also if I wanted to leave poly cam open I can click this and move it around the space here or I can resize it and make it huge or really thin and again kind of reposition this around around the space Maybe I wanted to stand

Next to Street Fighter here I can do that and the tracking on this is just really crazy as well so I can come back and it’s right there the quest 3 has a really hard time keeping track of those things let’s take a look at another app maybe you’re into drawing there’s no

Procreate on this just yet because obviously there’s no apple pencil but there is here that we’ve got doodle which is going to give you a brushlike surface here that I can then draw with this is all going to be very basic B I think for the most part until we get

Some kind of device that they offer that’s going to allow you to have that pressure control also one other big thing that I’m missing with a lot of this is there’s no Gesture Shortcuts that I’m aware of to undo an action so if I wanted to undo I can’t like swipe

Back or forefinger or I don’t know there’s there’s nothing built in natively just yet so you have to come in and look at the undo and undo to undo any action here but it is still kind kind of cool to be able to come in and

Do this space I would love to see some kind of an app that you know maybe it allows me to blow this up more oh here I guess I guess I can just kind of blow this up to be the size of the wall and then I could physically come up here and

Start interacting with the board could be kind of cool so just some just some different use cases here so this is just a drawing app here uh also this is free to download free to try but they they want like two bucks for it I’m not going

To buy that all right the last app I want to show you is a compatibility app so you can download iPad apps here so I you can actually interact with Nomad sculpts so this is one of my favorite iPad 3D modeling apps this is just an amazing application and you can actually

Come in here and I can use the clay tool and start sculpting oh it’s it’s hold on it’s reposition let me let me there we go I’ve repositioned it so it’s front facing and now should be able to come in here I can can subtract from in this I

Can control how big this is I can come in here uh let’s come in and move this around and stick this out and then I can come off to the side and adjust the rotation of this it’s it’s nowhere near as precise as 3D modeling directly on

Your iPad but it is still a really cool experience to be able to come in here and you know interact with this I’m just again just really starting to play around with this you’re not going to have all the pressure control because of the apple pencil one other thing that I

Thought would be in here is they implemented the hover function with the apple pencil and the latest updates there but the even though this app has the capability I thought maybe your fingers would allow that but it’s it’s not I think it’s it’s really tracking where your eye is and then when you’re

Pinching that’s how it’s interacting with this also another issue is with some of these apps is here I want if I want to undo it’s hard to look it keeps wanting to click the resize when I’m trying to look at the undo in the bottom corner there so it’s it can be a

Little tricky to to work with these things but it is somewhat possible it’s nowhere near as what you can find over on the quest 3 when it comes to virtual 3D modeling and some of the applications there and I’m actually hoping that we see things like gravity sketch make its

Way to this maybe figma XR is going to come out with their own thing here which isn’t exactly 3D modeling but it’s more interactive with 3D but it could be very cool Also let’s let’s reposition this uh maybe I’ll put this let’s put this over the sofa

Here let’s bring It Forward actually I can bring it for right here so maybe I want to have it in front of the sofa I don’t know this is so wild it’s so wild playing around with this and again it all just stays right there there’s poly

Cam there’s this I can pull up a safari window if I wanted to and just come in here and start working with this it’s it’s a really wild experience to be able to play around with this highly recommend trying it out so is this worth the $4,000 I I bought the 500 gig

Version by the way it at the moment of the initial release of this there’s not a ton of apps I mean there is a good amount of apps but nothing deeply engraved and and fully utilizing the functionality of the Vision Pro I think at this point I don’t think that you’re

Going to need the larger store I went with the larger storage and at this point now I’m not entirely sure I needed it because unless I’m downloading videos to go on a flight I’m not sure you’re just going to have apps that are on there I’m going to be streaming content

Streaming videos on this looks incredible uh the Disney Plus app has 3D videos now and immersive environments that you can sit in and watch movies that’s absolutely incredible the the Apple dinosaur experience that’s probably the coolest thing on this if you know anybody or go to the the demo

At your Apple store definitely check out that that dinosaur experience but right now I don’t I don’t think this is worth the price tag to be honest it’s it’s amazing experience it’s not a $3,500 worthwhile experience and yes the mirroring my MacBook display on this is incredible but you’re limited to just

The one screen and it’s not even you can’t adjust the aspect ratio which is kind of disappointing in itself oh also uh thank you to all my patreon supporters for your incredible support of me making content here on the interweb something new for me but I’m

Trying to get more into the tech and not just 3D but VR or anything that’s 3D impactful or immersive experience there that you might be able to interact with from the artist’s standpoint so uh thanks for all your support there and if you’re interested in things like my uh

3D printer profiles you’ll find those over in my patreon but this isn’t a full review or anything like that of the Apple Vision Pro I’m going to be doing some more videos on this so you can expect some more content from me on this I might do a fullon attempt at 3D

Modeling something with my hand in Nomad sculpt and then running off in 3D printing it I have another video that I’m working on I was going to try and pack it into this one but this is getting way too long I’m working on a three printable stand for the Vision Pro

So stay tuned that should be up in the next day or so hey thanks so much for watching you all let me know if there’s anything that you want to see on this and I’ll try and make some more content with the Vision Pro hey thanks so much

For watching see you next time align your face within the frame now slowly turn your head to the left capture cancel put Vision Pro back on to continue I look like beas from beas and Butthead also do I have too many teeth

  1. The lack of controllers for the Vision is very similar to the lack of a pen/pencil for the iPad. It’s a really big misstep by Apple for a device that was designed with productivity in mind. It’s seems useless without a real input device.

  2. 9:49 Nomad Sculpt seems an obvious choice for upgrade for a true 3D vision OS app, as well as the Gravity Sketch which already exists on Quest, and in a flat version for iPad. (aha, you just mentioned it.) It's all about potential! at this early stage…

  3. 5:58 Though NOT required or absolutely necessary, one could pair an input device to the VP.

13:02 Curious, considering an Mac Mini with comparable spec’s is about $1299, what would you price the R1 latency chip, the twelve cameras, all the sensors, and the two lenses. I would fathom at least another fifteen hundred, if not more…

    🤔

  4. How is the accessibility on this device? I’m missing 2 fingers on one hand. Would I still be able to use this?

  5. Excellent video. So good to watch an AVP review that focuses on creative apps. With Nomad Sculpt, it would be better if the sphere and tools were free-floating instead of bound inside a window. And with Doodle, it would be great to draw in the air or on your wall instead of inside a window – or maybe view the window on a flat surface like your desk or floor and then draw on that. As of now, every review I've watched shows people playing around with the flat floating windows, hardly using anything 3-dimendional. The Polycam angel was cool. Can you edit the angel sculpture using your hands?

I'm hoping that developers start breaking away from the floating windows so the virtual elements will feel realistic and be interactive. With art apps, it's important for users to get their hands digitally "dirty" like they would in a real-life creative environment. Imagine an app that lets you blow glass by holding the Apple Pencil up to your mouth as a virtual blowpipe, and as you begin to blow, you can see the liquid glass bubble being formed before it hardens into glass… and if you "drop it," it "breaks" and you have to command-Z (undo) it to get it back. This is only the beginning. The AVP will get better over time.

  6. This is definitely for people who drive Tesla’s and wear Canada goose jackets and drink out of Stanley cups

  7. Non replaceable cable on the battery seems like a huge oversight (see: planned failure point) on it.

  8. I’ve been holding off on getting one because that’s a lot of scratch without compelling reasons to spend it yet, but I’m pretty sure one of these is in my future. I mean, as it is now, I’d get good use from it. I have a small house and my office only has a window overlooking our neighbor’s house. Sticking a Wyze cam outside and putting a virtual window in my office would be a LOT cheaper, even with the cost of the Vision Pro, than putting a real window in here.

That said, I am very excited by the possibilities for sculpting apps, and it’s not too hard to imagine purely hand-based controls.

  9. Thank you, I've been wanting to see a video showing how drawing and designing work on the VP rn. Looking to see all of the new apps that begin to be released on it!

I can also see this being useful to practice graffiti when you made the canvas huge and got up close lol!

  10. Other then the 30% more rez I don't get why anyone should buy this over a Quest 3 which has not only better hand tracking and more of it but controllers too.

  11. Thanks for saving me $3500 lol. As someone who sculpts in VR specifically for 3d printing application, gravity sketch is really the best thing available for now but I'd love a full fledged 3d modeling and animation application for VR that can run on a standalone device, we're just not there yet.

  12. When they add a quality 3D scanner that can work with Fusion 360 and then send it right to your 3D printer, PCBway (metal 3D printing) or CNC plasma table I’ll be the first in line. The way tech is going I give it a year, two tops. I’ll even double dog dare you and ask for a Jarvis vocal interaction Ai assistant.

  13. It’s literally 100x better than the quest 3 pass through, no warping, dude it’s not even close at all

  14. Apple is giving these things out like crazy to all the youtubers/influencers recently. I tried it, it gives me a very bad headache.

  15. main problem with this device is low customer market – they produced only 80k devices. if you develop a game or app and sell it to 10% of the market at 5$ you make 40k minus apple "tax" and real taxes. apple does way too little to make this a mainstream product. price is too high – not enough apps that would make people want this. what i have seen so far is shaky recordings from the device itself and no real productivity apps – like 3d apps or cad tailored for this device. bundled with 2 hour battery life and a supposedly uncomfy fit, this seems to be an expensive toy, rather than a new mass market product.

  16. I think this cool but not something i can justify the cost, yet i believe this will help push competition in this field.

  17. As a graffiti artist I’m interested in using the Vision Pro to overlay dealings onto a wall to do outline work, but at almost $4k that will be an expensive theory to prove it works lol.

  18. I went into the Apple Store for the demo, determined to not buy one of these things. I have a lot of VR experience between 3 different types of headsets, used mostly for flight simulation, so I just wanted to compare those experiences with the AVP as far as visual quality. I was definitely impressed by the clarity, but was more impressed by the interface. At one point I had the feeling that the AVP was somehow anticipating my next move. It's just that your hands and eyes begin to work so well together, it seems like AVP is "magically" reading your mind. I still had full control of my bank account until the last small demo the Apple employee had me do. It was a compilation of short, immersive video clips. Nothing outrageous–there was a professional soccer game shown from a viewpoint a few feet above one of the goals, a second soccer game, between children, with rhinos very nearby looking on, then another scene where those rhinos are almost in your lap. There were more scenes than that, but those are the ones I remember now, 48 hours later. A strange thing happened though, and it was a little embarrassing. About 3/4 of the way through that immersive video, I became very emotional. I have no idea why because, as I explained, these scenes weren't particularly aimed at one's emotions. I believe, between the music and the visuals of this last demo, it somehow affected a part of my brain I didn't know was there. Many of the shots were impossible perspectives, like hovering over the soccer goal, and I think that does something to you, sort of makes you feel like you have a super power. Anyway, the ol bank account didn't stand a chance after that. I thought that if it can provide an experience like that, there is more here that I want to learn about. Sitting here now waiting for those darn corrective lenses to get shipped!

  19. Crazy to me how people can say the passthrough is not that much better than quest 3. It is SO much better its not even close.

  20. could be a nice nomad sculpt viewer but not editor. so much delay and less control, for now.

i mean imagine still editing on your ipad but also viewing the model in AR simultaneously

  21. Neat, but certainly not worth 4k to me. The only real benefit I see is that it will kick start competition within the space.

  22. I did the in stoor demo and it soured my opinion on the headset. It was uncomfortable, it was boring and I couldn't wait to get the headset off. The display is definitely leagues better than the Quest 3, the hand tracking is a bit better. Other than that the headset was so boring to use, and the fov was awful. If I had $3500. to blow I would buy a nice oled tv instead.

  23. ImmersedVR and Virtual Desktop will soon allow multiple virtual monitors from your Mac or pc. Having used those with a Quest Pro I can say it should be a great productivity device for when you really want to concentrate or just have too much reference material to fit on a regular monitor.

  24. People buying expensive apple products are the reason they keep pushing to overprice their products, $3500 for this is a hard pass for me and I have the money for it, just don't like Apple robbing it's customers, stop giving them reasons to sell overpriced products. Is it cool? Yes, is it worth paying $3,500 + tax? Nah.

  25. I think we will get better control once we can break free of the single window setup.. imagine tools scattered around rather then “desktop” mode.. Will be interesting to see hopefully soon what Zbrush for ios will look like..
