Gary Pilarchik: What is an All-America Selections Vegetable (AAS) Winner & Trial Ground?: My Trip to California

I show you a massive seed production farm, Seeds by Design, with hedges of tomatoes! Many of their hybrids have become AAS Winners. Ever wonder where the seeds we grow come from?

(Hybrids Not GMO’s)

In August I was invited to the All America Selections (AAS) vegetable trial grounds in California. A trial ground is where they independently judge new varieties of vegetables. I got to see all that goes into the judging and into creating new hybrid seed varieties. I was simply amazed. I will be doing a series next year on different AAS Winners. I really didn’t understand all the work that went into creating a hybrid and the scale of independent judging that is done (across North America) to only bring the best varieties to… well you and I. Impressive!
