After the first night using these barrels filled with water we had a mild success. They kept the GH at least 6° above the ambient temperature. Usually the temperature falls below the ambient temperature so I’m considering this a great success. We’ll see how cloudy affect the barrels in the negative, but in those cases I have a propane heater as backup.
You can see how my GH temperature sensor tells me the high temp was about 90° yesterday so the barrels were heated up pretty well and lasted all night giving off heat even though it’s hardly insulated.
I consider this a success.

How does you greenhouse fall below ambient temperature normally? That seems counter to the laws of thermodynamics (unless you have an AC running in it).
