I would like to make an ecosphere out of this, any suggestions on dos and don’ts?

**Side note**dried rose was put in the carboy for some reason, but it’s from my wedding a few years ago and getting the rose out will be a pain without completely destroying it so I’ll just have to incorporate it into the ecosphere if possible.

Please help me with any suggestions to get started! Thank you!!

Aquatic or terrestrial ecosphere? Also what did you do last time that didn’t work out?

I don’t understand why you can’t empty it and rinse it.

I’ve used a car boy to make a terrarium and it’s been successful.

I put a 2” layer of leca at the bottom, then sphagnum moss covered in a layer of charcoal. I made a substrate of coco coir, organic compost, and lava rock, and put 4” of it in there but I wish I went with 6”. I put in tradescantia, rabbitsfoot ferns, moss, and just little clippings of whatever plants I thought might work. I added springtails also. There was already humidity in it from rinsing some elements of the substrate before adding them so I just misted it a couple times. I left it unsealed for the first couple weeks before corking it. I have it in a north east facing window where it gets lots of indirect light. Also a metal coat hanger makes a good tool for poking things around, but part of using this kind of container is just accepting that natures gonna do it’s own thing.
