We currently live in a row house with a yard 5m by 13m. We have a grass field but it has more moss then grass, so the idea is to sacrifice 3m by 1,55m for a lean-on greenhouse that is against our shed for an earlier and longer grow season. Not for year round growing! We live in zone 8 (Netherlands) average of 1550 sun hours and 853 millimeters of rain per year
In the picture the blue colour is the proposed position of the greenhouse facing north east long side. The direct light sun would be there from 09:00 until 18:00 is this enough? The other option would be just to have a few raised beds there but then i suspect it will be just as the grass a moss party, as the shade would be much earlier.
Just to reiterate it’s for an earlier and longer growing season. In the winter this will become a shed as heating would be very expensive.
Lumber (Douglas) would cost us about 450€, polycarbonate tunnel 10mm 4-sided around 200€, foundation of bricks 75€
