Haa it’s Xavier and it’s only the 3rd of December and guess what this time last year yell and I were doing a bit of work on digging up yamadori trees did you get a blunt one it’s not going to work who have thought that everything now would be asleep I’ve lost three

Weeks of my bonsai world oh well you want to have a look and see what the garden’s looking like might like some snowman as well yeah we end up having uh full overnight snow and uh I woke up to see this and uh yeah it’s only an inch probably an inch

Of snowfall certainly uh Mr Panda and Mr T-Rex they love the snow frolicking and playing together no matter how many times you see it though there is something really really beautiful and peaceful about seeing the first snow when it lays and as you know in this country we can go several years

Before we see snow mind you one day of snow will be enough to bring the country to a standstill for at least a week as you see benches here absolutely 2 Ines of snow on top of them same with what’s on the deck so to speak

And uh as we go around you’ll see that you can’t see very much and I think because of that I’ll cheat just a wee bit and show you how this looked a week ago when we just had the first warnings of the uh the frosts with minus 2 minus

Three and give you a better idea how my bonsai garden finish looking for 2023 and that first Frost bites in deep my little Chinese Elm Cascade it’s only the 30th of November Susan’s Wildwood Oak Forest it’s looking very very cold in there that silver birch so easily worked

On just a week and a half ago and now look at that ice spiders enjoying the early Frost of winter well we’re not even in Winter we’re still late Autumn winter isn’t for another 2 and a half 3 weeks the junipers getting that uh that discolor

That’s so natural in this time of the year the icy cool cheater surveying its arid landscape do they have arid Landscapes when it’s ice a frozen golden Larch which is a false Larch really I think it’s closer to the cedras family well hopefully this will be adequate winter protection because well

They look a bit chilly looking in the U Forest he’s not going to catch many fish there well at least he doesn’t need to go to the shop to get frozen fish a frozen Larch landscape a lone axeman surveying the barren Wilderness of the Arctic wastes of Grandam Lincoln winter has

Arrived with a week ofus 3-4 temperatures ahead of us but will we survive and some late November Frost for our Holly I see very few red belly bellies berries there I have kept that Chinese Elm and that one there out there there’s some degree of shelter well he doesn’t look too

Unhappy winter has certainly come early to Grandam the benches are definitely looking a little different now and the uh the training beds well it’s just it just looks so wonderful I love it I absolutely love it and the whole Garden is like that and there’s only one thing left to do at

This time of year is quietly look up to the sky and yell help Help the railway bed that’s uh nicely covered and the sa with that snow those those those uh young trees will actually be very well protected all the maples there as you know they were all uh ceilings picked up in 2014 but a lot of work’s going to go on

Those next year I know that but how my little babies getting on in the cold frame is looking very very iced up how’s it looking in here well there’s certainly no ice and there are all the trees this is where they’ll stay for the winter there the catura maple

Stump Korean hornbeam silver Birches that all got wired up I’ve brought all the Chinese Elms in this time as you know I’m very nervous about them this is going to be their resting place the next three three and a half months just remember to check them every

Couple of weeks weeks for water this new side area as the White Pines box they won’t like this weather very much and lots of Frosty little plants and down the side of the greenhouse where we get the most protection probably that too has got a

Nice coating of snow on it and of course my derel area the old bottom of the garden so what plans do I I have for this whole area well I’m glad you asked let’s have a little look at what Lexi my eldest designed for me and all

I’ll have to do is build it anyway that’s the uh the garden tour down clearly I’ve got a load of work ahead of me when it comes to rebuilding the uh lower part of the garden and the benches and everything like that but I don’t

Know I think the trees are going to be pretty all right and actually when they’re blanketed in snow like that this is even better than freezing winds so I suppose the only thing left to do apart from say goodbye is to to get my favorite Bonsai book spoilers this isn’t

It but if you hang around probably two or 3 days you might get to find out what my go-to bonsai book is and you might even get to see a few other guest stars cuz I understand yellow might have a point to make and Dave from Blue Sky

Bonsai and maybe one or two others but uh you’ll have to watch to see that so if that’s something you reckon you might want to see then don’t forget Bell notifications you’ll know when it comes out subscribe and if you’ve liked today’s content then big thumbs up and

Uh I think the next couple of videos got planned be quite fun so join me anyway from Z you’re in his snowy wintry Garden still in Autumn I say thanks very much for watching God bless cheers and you too cheater cheers to you too although you’re looking a bit spotty

Wonder if you measles what do you Think

  1. Can't believe it's not winter yet lol 😮
I put some of mine in cold frame and thankfully you reminded me to check the watering every couple weeks. I nearly forgot lol
    Happy Christmas mate

  2. Nice to see the trees in the snow it really makes them look peaceful and resting waiting for spring. Only more rain again here 😢

  3. Great video. Too bad so many people think that the calendar drives the seasons. The frost should have been confirmation that winter has arrived. December 21st, as the first day of winter, is – look outside – a conceit of western society. Long before, leaves have fallen, wild geese have flown and frost has decorated in advance of snow! In the northern hemisphere in temperate climates, the seasonal winter is November, December, January and perhaps into February. Plants rest. Humans are restive! Instead, let's be festive. Season's Greetings to all! May our bonsai rest and be ready for our onslaught in February. Thank you!!!! for sharing your garden and your seasons.

  4. Love all your collaborations with Jelle! Informative and some good chuckles ❤️ thank you both

  5. You got more snow than I do my friend. Make sure you let us know if you do recover from this city-shutting-down-dumping of the white stuff.

  6. They look lovely with the untouched snow. I'd much rather your weather than the 34°c and ridiculous humidity we've had here!

  7. Lovely chilly tour through festive bonsai land. You must be on constant critter alert in your cold frame and bedding areas – those mice and such get pretty hungry this time of year! Stay warm and keep your toe high & dry. Looking forward to your next vid!

  8. What is the conifer at the 1:51 time mark, to the left of the statue, at the bottom of the screen. I want one. (Just the top is visible)

  9. What a cosy cover your trees have ❄️😍 👏
Whish I had taken pictures, when Salzburg was covered in snow those days. Missed the sunny days because of working and didn’t use the cloudy days. Now all snow has gone. 🫣 I don’t get the unsubscribe-hint either. Thought you where over this. Anyway.
Enjoy your day 😘 Cheers 🙋‍♀️ Martina

  10. I wondered where all the snow was! Ours is gone! I was outside in a Tshirt today! Last time this happened was about 8 years ago! Hey Xavier…. Where does the white go when the snow melts? I've never been able to figure it out…. Do you know? 😉🤪
