Garden Plans

Planning our 2024 Vegetable Garden

Even though it is January, it is a great time to take inventory of what canned goods you need more of, or what you would like to try preserving. I always like to try planting something new. This year, I am planting fennel. It is always exciting to draw out plans and have a good game plan before the actual planting begins. I always can enough of our condiments to last an entire year. Things like salsa, ketchup, bbq sauce, pickles, hot mustard, relish, jellies – many varieties, cowboy candy, and much more. Follow us throughout the year to see what our garden layout will look like, what we are planting, and how we are actually using our vegetables that we grow.

45x 50 and we do trellis all of our Vining vegetables we have a large Berry Patch grapes cherry trees strawberries and one hickory nut tree while it is January it is a great time of the year to take inventory of what canned goods you are short on what your family eats

The most of and make a plan and to do this I keep it really easy and just use pen and paper nothing fancy and I make a detailed list this past year the only cold hearty vegetables I grew were tesan melons and pumpkins I need to bulk this area up by

Adding in spaghetti squash and acorn squash these vegetables help bulk up our meals with which will definitely help our grocery budget I also try every year to plant some something new so I can learn this past season I grew loofah for the first time I started my seeds a little later

How much we actually get from it I only grow what my family eats we eat a lot of salad most of the spring and summer days so growing several types of lettuces is important for us radishes onions and herbs help boost in flavors and keep it from being boring planting

These in succession ensures a continuous Harvest it’s never too late to start gardening having a plan is a great place to start try writing down what your family eats for several weeks and then try to plant the those vegetables if you use a lot of condiments planting several

Tomato plants will help make will help you make your own salsa barbecue sauce and ketchup come to mind I encourage you to take the leap get dirty and be amazed at what foods you can grow for you and your family there are also a ton of failures in gardening but it’s a

Learning experience each year that allows you to have successes and bumper crops so please follow us this season to see what we are growing and how we are using the vegetables that we plant this year so thank you guys all for watching take care God bless and we will see you soon bye
