My first greenhouse. I of course wanted something simple but my wife got involved. I had a cousin that replaced all the windows in his house and was tossing all the old wood frame pellas he pulled out so i snagged em. Other windows came from craigslist. Turned out pretty but ive had probs controlling extreme temps. I built a cooling wall from scratch but had problems with humidity. Winter is a challenge when it hits 20 out. Im in central Texas. I could go on and on but i thought i would just share my build. Hope yall enjoy!

Wow that is a real beauty! How are you heating and cooling it? Any exhaust fans?

Wow, that is one classy looking greenhouse. You and the family did an amazing job!

This is lovely and your kids will remember building this forever. I’m 34F and I own a 2000sqft house alone, built a van a lone, fixed everything myself alone because I watched my dad and grandpa as a kid. You got so much more than a greenhouse.

That is a nice one! Good job! Extreme temps are difficult to grow in and it really takes a lot of effort to grow during those times.
In the Summer, you might want to get some shade cloth to help control temps during the hottest part of the day. Exhaust fans and oscillating fans are great for moving air which will help control humidity and temps.
In the winter, heating is really expensive (gas/ electricity price) and not easy so you’ll have to ask yourself if it’s worth the effort money to grow just a few items through the winter. It’s possible but you’ll need a lot more climate control.

Do you have any built in built in drainage in the floor for when you water? We use a split system in ours to control temperature swings and control the cold and also the humidity

  6. Wow!! That’s amazing! Any “I wish I had known” comments?

I’m going to build something custom over the next year or so and it feels quite similar to what you built here

Beautiful! This is similar to what I want to build but I’m digging down to use geothermal temperature regulation.
Got my building permit, just gotta get the hole dug.

Having recently compacted, leveled, and tiled a mere 5’x3’ patch for a small shed, I very much feel the pic of you lying exhausted on the finished pad. 🤣
