#WIG2023 Seed Challenge: Unlock your gardening potential #vegetables #gardening #WIG2023

In this video, I start my seeds for the #WIG2023 seed challenge. Small space gardening is so much fun and really so easy!!

I believe anyone can plant, raise, and harvest food from small spaces. We’re seeing shortages of basic items, with food being among them. I hope this video inspires and makes others realize that growing food in a suburban setting can be done. The backyard grocery store never has empty shelves! Happy Gardening!

For it’s a beautiful December 2nd Saturday and it’s nice and cool but you know what it really means it’s time to start my winter indoor garden 2023 2024 Good morning and welcome back to my channel Urban backyard container gardening I’m Moses I am going to start my winter indoor garden seeds today and I thought I would bring you along we’re going to grow these varieties this this is filer cabbage this is red Mero lettuce this is Caron

Leaks daycon radishes I need these for my kimchi and T soy kind of like a Oriental spinach so let’s start with these think I’m only going to do two of these the seeds are real small and from what I’ve been reading up the plants get kind of kind of

Big and I only want to really grow one so I’m going to try to put two to three seeds in each hole that I just made and then thin them out when they grow okay let’s put the label in put that one over there next we’re going to do the daycon

Radish and we’re going to do a row of five and I’m going drop two seeds in each and put the label in my soil has already been um pre moistened next we’re going to do the leaks think I’m going to do a couple rows of these seeds are similar to that of an

Onion so I’m going drop two to three in each hole for for okay finally and let’s go back and cover them up put the label in next we’re going to do the cabbage for They’re all in and last but not least the Mero lettuce e for and put the label in okay going go get a cup of perlite and I’m going to sprinkle it on top and then get my um sprayer hand pump sprayer okay we have our container of perite so I’m going to gently

Cover each opening with the perite I use the perite every time I start most of the time when I start seeds it helps with the moisture and to keep everything from drying out next I’m going to sprinkle some ground cinnamon on top that will help with any fungus and

Nets and also help to prevent root rck right last but not least the pump sprayer and we’re going to spray my seeds I think I need to get up so I’m farther away there we go and just like that we have our seat Challenge seeds we have our Challenge

Seeds start uh planted and soon as they come up or this dries out rather I’m going to put this inside my grill bag and we’ll be off and running inside um all of the seeds with the exception of one came from Baker Creek and this one the radishes they came from

  2. You're weather looks absolutely gorgeous over there!! Over here it's dark, gloomy and snowing. I'd really love some sunshine right about now! I know that your plants are gonna thrive in such a beautiful place! Can't wait to see your progress! Happy Growing!! 🌿 😊

  3. Laying seeds for next year…. Where has the time gone.

Love your tip about perlite! Here’s to next season! πŸ’•πŸŒ±πŸŽ‰

(Quick edit – i checked the amazon affiliate link in your description and it goes to an error page. Might want to check the url ❀ – as of 8:45am Dec 5th)

  4. Whoa great tip about the cinnamon! I've never seen or heard anyone do that. If you've said it before I definitely didn't see that video. Thank you for sharing and happy growing 😊

  5. Good morning, Moses! ❀ Thanks for bringing us along as you start your seeds. πŸ’• Your weather is AMAZING. Here in my area of WA we got flood warnings till Friday. πŸ˜‚ Daikon I love, but I’m looking forward to trying Tatsoi. Have a blessed day and week!

  6. That is such a great idea to add perlite on top of the soil to keep it moist. When planting in larger containers I find it easy to mix the perlite in but always struggle with keeping my smaller pods moist. I will be trying this as well as the cinnamon at the beginning instead of waiting until problems arise and adding it later. Also how do you like to prepare/cook your leeks. I’ve never eaten them before and have been thinking about trying to grow them!

  7. Nice group of seed starts.
I am going to try to get some of that cabbage for next year. It has such an interesting look.
Thanks for the tips at the end. I don’t recall ever hearing that cinnamon helps prevent root rot.

  8. Good luck with all the options you planted. Although, you don't really need luck. We have seen what you can grow 😊❀ Have fun 😊
