Joe I gotta say I have tried this a few years ago….from the recommendation of Keene Garlic. And it has worked really well. I however didn't do it subsequent years….But it helps if you are trying to create a nice and strong stock of seed garlic. Thanks for the demonstration.

Certified seed garlic from a reputable company should be virus free. And because plants have endophytes, I would not wish to disrupt this process by sterilizing with hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, or vodka, baking soda. Enclosed is part of an article I have written for my garden friends. I am a Cornell Cooperative Extension certified Master Gardener Volunteer. I garden in New York State's most western county, Chautauqua. I really feel this step to sterilize is misguided and perhaps harmful to the microbial associations nature will create between plants and the soil microbiome.
