Garden Plans

Can I beat anxiety? Plans for a new 1/2 allotment plot, in my garden! fruit & veg with mature plants

I lost the summer months of 2023 in my garden, due to anxiety and paranoia. This meant I missed the dhalia and verbena bonariensis display.

So it’s time to rethink the section of garden we fenced off from my dogs. I have dreamt of having an allotment for years. My garden is north facing in the back, so not ideal but this section is a half plot of an allotment (just under). So, that’s my challenge to myself. To grow my own again and see how productive I can make this space

While I conquer the anxiety I feel gardening by a neighbours fence. Headphones at the ready. Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks for watching

  1. Sounds like you have some great plans lined up Jane and believe me, Anxiety can be a struggle to deal with. But try to find peace and comfort in your garden and music can really help, so i think the headphone idea is a great one.

  2. You have a tortoise! How lovely! It s such a great space! It has so much potential! So exciting! Gardening is the best thing to do to relax and escape. You are going to do great! πŸ˜„πŸ‘πŸ’•πŸŒΈ

  3. Exciting times ahead for sure. I say I garden for my mind body and soul, harvesting fresh food is a bonus you can’t measure in weight alone. Keep at it spring is on the way πŸ‘. Merry Christmas 🀢 Ali πŸ€ΆπŸŽ„πŸ˜±

  4. I don't know if your neighbor is on the east side?
I would have beds going from your (dog) fencing towards your neighbours fence but 3m long allowing a 1m path all along your neighbors fence, that way you can always be facing your other part of the garden when tending the beds and for most of it your dogs will be close by.
In between the beds I would put possibly another door in the fencing from the dogs to allow a quick exit
You can then use you fencing (which I'm presuming is the west side and so the hottest) as trellis for tomatoes and small (in height) Pea Douce Provence which only gets to 45cm in height.
    Good luck for next year.
