Before Christmas Gardening at the Cottage

There are a few gardening chores that I want to get in before Christmas here at the cottage. I still have allium bulbs to plant, a few tulips, and seeds to scatter. Let’s do this!

  1. You look like a girl sitting on the sidewalk & playing in the garden. I so enjoy your videos desr Linda. Hello Stewart. Love to hear you laugh.

  2. Always refreshing seeing Linda on her knees seeding and planting bulbs, just another day of passion and love of gardening. 🪴🪴🌷🌷🌹🌹🌱🌿

  3. Great educational video as usual! Can I just say now that you revealed your age, that I am envious of your squat!LOL!!!!👍🏻🇨🇦🤗

  4. Would you give us a list of seeds other than Larspur that we could sprinkle. I am in Ohio and usually start seeds inside in March.

  5. So now I’ve learned the secret to allium success! Never put gravel in the bottom of my clay-like soil & the bulbs rotted. Thank you!

  6. Ahhh. Your handy tool appears to be a handheld version of my “scuffle hoe”. The perfect tool to easily take care of those pop ups and even tougher growth too. I’ve never seen a small handheld one. I do indeed appreciate the long handle, no need to get to ground level. It saves my knees.

  7. Hi Linda! This is my first year planting Allium bulbs, and I’ve been very excited about what they will bring to my garden this spring! They have been sitting in my garage, and I’ve been procrastinating doing anything with them because I’ve just felt unsure. I guess I was waiting for this video of yours! Lol. Who knew?! I live in Portland Oregon 8B, and have “soil” much like yours (aka CLAY!)Thank you for the gravel tip! I never would’ve done that and probably would’ve lost my bulbs! I love your channel and thank you for all of your tips, tricks and wisdom you share. I look forward to each new video, and often go back to the older ones since I also seem to have memory issues 😂

  8. Linda, Hello, would you please share where you purchased the white bowl Bird bath on black stand? Thank you, and Merry Christmas !

  9. Oh Lisa, I have no words. Your holiday decorations are truly beautiful along with your prayer for Christmas! I wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas 🎄. Thank you so very much ❤

  10. 12 Pack Plant Stake Support, Garden Single Stem Support Stake Plant Cage Support Rings, Single Stem Plant Support Stakes, for Tomatoes, Peony, Lily, Rose,… perfect for poppies. The stakes hide well to keep poppies from being messy. I sometimes place 1 stake for a few poppy stems gathered together. Not too many but a few with each stake, they then provide support for other poppy stem next to the ones staked. Ho you give them a try.

  11. In my personal journal I have highlighter the names of some plants to remind myself of the color. So if I’m looking for something I planted that is red , or blue, or pink, etc. I can literally flip my pages quickly and look for the highlighted colors in my journal. ESP if I can’t “remember” the date or year I planted a flower color with plant info on that specific color for a planting arrangement in a specific area for grouping. Just a thought.

  12. I store my seed packets in old 8-track cassette cases I found at junk stores. I have one for flowers, one for herbs, and one for vegetables. They store the seed packets upright, makes it easier to organize them, and alphabetize!
