We decided to get on with a project that’s we’ve wanted to do for some time and that is to create a rill. It’s a big project and so this is the first phase – the dig out. This is definitely the unglamorous side of gardening, mud, rain and more mud!!!! Hopefully it will be worth the pain and destruction 🤞

How exciting! Your hornbeam really do look amazing and inspired me to plant a hornbeam hedge this winter.

Your soil looks beautiful dark and rich. When i was used to do gardening in SE England, i had to deal with sticky clay (a nightmare to deal with).
A pound sounds like a good idea but I imagine it to be a lot of work in terms of maintenance. Looking forward to see the end result.
