Leah’s story of crisis compelled a drastic shift in eating habits for herself and her family. Preparing home-grown, home-cooked meals not only offered her family healing nourishment, but it provided a sense of joy and grounding energy when she needed it most. Her transformation was made possible by focusing on progress, not perfection and learning what it means to truly care for one’s self. Leah is the author of two books and operates a garden coaching and edible landscaping business in western North Carolina. She studied soil processes and food systems for seven years before starting her career in health and gardening education in 2009. Her practical approach to whole foods cooking and gardening is inspired by the complexities of raising two children with unique medical needs. Leah shares her personal story, knowledge, and books at events throughout country. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
