December Garden Guide – Everything You Can Plant NOW Or Start From Seed #garden #gardeningtips #grow

It’s December and I have a ton of garden ideas for you! In this month’s garden guide, I focus on the vegetable crops and plants that can be started from seed or planted during the month of December. Believe it or not, December is a huge spring garden planning month. Gardeners with last spring frost dates in January, February, and March, need to start sowing seeds now. Therefore, I share my tips for indoor or outdoor seed sowing. I also cover important garden tasks like fertilizing fruit trees, techniques for sowing seeds, and recommendations on my favorite cultivars. December is prime time to plant a lot of food crops that cannot be grown during other times of the year (for South USA gardeners) such as strawberries, potatoes, onions, and garlic. I definitely go into details about how to plant those crops and get a huge harvest.

If you’re looking to start some plants from seed or plant some vegetables in your garden this month, be sure to check out my garden guide! I hope you find this guide helpful as you garden in December!

  1. Excellent info, so impressed with how much you cover in your videos! Thanks Jerra! I love that mini greenhouse, looks like one I have had my eye on over at Amazon, so I will definitely look into it further! Your garden looks amazing btw!

  2. THANK YOU for the Dec tips! Needed some direction on what to plant in So Cal and now get to prep for SPRING!!

Thank you for the link to your blog detailing your tips. I had to replay a bunch of times in order for me to log all your tips on an spreadsheet 😂 😂

  3. Agree that we are 10a I was trying to grow plants for zone 9 and lower and failed so many times, now I know why. Thanks for the great video.

  4. Thank you for this great info. I have to do my seedlings outside. I like the green house idea you have. Question though, do yo keep the mats on all day or do you turn them off at some point during the day?

  5. Excellent info Jenna! Thank you my Brassicas I planted along side with you are doing great and the tomatoes so far. Beginner question. I have eggplants, tomatoes and broccoli growing now. I’m in 10a. I don’t have room to plant more in springtime, will these plants not last throughout spring and so I will need to plant new ones? Thank you I’m learning so much from you 😊

  6. Well, I agree with the new update I’m in Portland Oregon and I just went from zone 8B to 9A. it’s getting warmer in Portland Oregon. I planted all my hard neck garlic this year only to have it start sprouting early. Don’t know what to do with it but I guess I’ll just leave it and hope for the best. Cheers.

  7. I would like to grow collard greens that good. I guess its collard . Do you use blood meal and organic granular fertilizer and compost for your amendments ?

  8. Always so thorough, thank you. Also thank you for the USDA update. Just discovered my zone is 10A as well (from 9b).
