  1. @1:51 Kaye!!!! Brown sugar is white sugar that has had a little molasses added to it. Maybe this should be reinterpreted as a crustless sweet potato pie or just a baked custard? Wonder if it could be cooked to come out like a caramel coated flan? Looks and sounds tasty. I'd need a lot of homemade whipped cream for that. Love your videos, Kaye. I'm so glad winter is here so there will be more cosy home cooking videos.

  2. Absolutely! I'd love to see more of your mother's recipes! As for the coconut sugar, my budget is like a tourniquet, so I'll stick with plain, old white sugar.

  3. I have some of my Mothers too. I have her cookbooks and she wrote things all thru the book. Isn’t it wonderful! ❤

  4. When an old recipe says to mix together, it simply means to combine by hand, if it doesn’t specify use mixer. sweet potatoes would also taste richer and easier to peel if baked first, but If you boil, pour off the water.
The butter should always be at room temperature. Don’t use mixer in topping, it makes it a paste, but use a fork to combine, which is timely but it will be crumbly and able to sprinkle all over the top.
    I’m sure yours tasted great.
I’m 80 years old and the way your mother’s recipe read was standard for my generation.
I enjoy your videos. I’m especially impressed by your ambition and stamina.
    God bless!

  5. I love this as a new video series. Reinterrupting the old ways while incorporating new techniques and ingredients is an awesome idea! What a wonderful way to honor your Mother, her life, and influence on you. I would suggest adding Cinnamon and Cardimon to the spices too. Also, I love the purple color. 💜 ❤

  6. I didn't get any from my gardens this yr, but my husband brought some home and I canned them instead. We should all be eating more orange foods like sweet potato, yams, winter squash, pumpkin, because they have some nutrition in them that our body NEED to stay healthy. I was having a very painful stomach for months, and thought it may have been cancer. I refused to go see a doctor, so I prayed and told God if He wanted me to live, He needed to heal me. The next morning I woke to a voice in my head that said EAT ORANGE. And it stated all the above orange foods. Well, I don't listen to every voice I hear, but I figured this could hurt, so I went and bought some sweet potatoes, boiled and ate one. THE PAIN STOPPED WITHIN THE HOUR, and I had a boost in mood and cognitive ability that was nothing short of miraculous. I was remembering things that I had forgotten I kne, and the good mood was amazing. NO WONDER our evil leaders only promote these foods on HOLIDAYS!! SHARE THIS! And eat some of these once a week if you want to stay healthy and smart! Share this with someone sick, it may help them get well!

  7. Brown sugar, butter and chopped walnuts are good together, too. My Mom always sprinkled walnuts and butter oner the cooked/cooking sweet potatoes. Yummy stuff. Pecans would be good too. Hope you are doing good, Kaye.

  8. Thanks Kaye! Here is a little bit more towards that broad rake. We will get there slowly but surely.

  9. That looks and sounds sooooo good !! Yes please, more of your mama's recipes! Yes, you could look up another recipe, but it wouldn't be your mama's! I get that. My mama died 25 years ago, and I miss her so much–cooking her recipes helps me somehow. It's just so comforting!❤

  10. Your sweet potato Souffle looks awesome Kaye! Sending prayers for your mom and you are fortunate she left you some wonderful recipes and her life treasures. I think you do a wonderful job filming your recipes/garden videos as most of us could not take the pressure of getting everything just right. But that is not real life anyway. Hope you have a blessed week and are feeling much better…

  11. This video was TORTURE!!!!😊 🥇🏅🏆
    Do you ship?📦
Just curious do you remember eating that dish growing up or if like my mother she was coming up with new recipes after the first group of the family were grown and gone?

  12. In my vintage recipes, a small amount of water would be just as you had it, to the top of the potatoes but it would be drained off. The eggs and milk would have made it the consistency of pancake batter, not quite so liquid – but it sure did come out fantastic for you! It looks delicious! It's a really old recipe here in the south. I often change out the brown sugar and nuts for marshmallows that get poured over top at the last 10 minutes. It depends on my mood. 🙂 You do grow some of the most interesting things! I think the sweet potato looks like a walking stick! Sweet potatoes and carrots often have a sick sense of humor! hahaha I got a little carrot that had two legs and a little weenie between! AKKK! hahahaha

  13. Oh my! Your souffle looks sooo good! Who wouldn't like a pumpkin pecan dessert! I will definitely try this. I would love to see videos showing more of your mamma's casserole recipes; I pray she is well❤. Thank you so much Kaye❤😊🐱

  14. That’s very similar to the one I make. I bake my sweet potatoes and mash them up then incorporate them into the other ingredients. Thanks Miss Kaye I always look forward to your videos!

  15. Bless your heart. My mom had dementia before she passed away. I miss her every day, especially on the days I’m baking. She was a wonderful baker and amazing cook. Between her and my grandmother, we were always well fed, unless my oldest sister had to cook. Not being harsh, but the chick literally BURNT jello and used Joy dish soap to wash the chicken. Boy! Talking about putting a new twist on Lemon chicken. Can’t say over the years she actually learned to be a good cook, but she knows her restaurants. Lol. I digress. I have 3 of her books , 2 Cookbooks.1 dating back from 1964, the other from the early 70’s. The 3rd book is her King James 1611 Bible, which she gave me when I was 4 months pregnant with my son. Needless to say, they all need to be rebind, especially my Bible.
Your mom’s recipe was very interesting.
Hope your day is going good.
    Take care and God bless.

  16. I'm about to do the same thing/interpret one of my Great-Grandmother's cookie recipes, titled, "Dora's Cookies". They are a nutmeg and brown sugar-flavored cookie-cutter cookie.
I love the color the purple sweet potato gave this casserole. Very festive! I bet that tasted like 'holidays'!

  17. Thank you so much for sharing this! I'd rather have a tried and true recipe that's known and loved , than 10 recipes with elaborate details. Would LOVE to see any recipe that you want to share from your mom😍

  18. Hello beautiful kaye ur show is amazing 👍😁 more more of ur cooking kaye it's super brilliant have a lovely day🇺🇲👸💋❤️👍😁😏

  19. Oh Kaye, I so love your videos. You really are authentic…no production could be better. I always come away smiling at your antics. The beater coming out at the last is exactly something that would happen to me when I get rushed. Love ya Sweetie 🥰
