Hi from Melborne Australia. After seeing your pond installation I inquired if Aquascape is here in Aus and suprisingly there was a contractor in the adjoining town. Ive had a wonderful wet pondless waterfall put into a corner of my garden .I love it so much. Grandkids are small 2 and 3 years , so pondless was the way to go. I want more water features from them now. Thankyou Laura absolutely fantastic ideas. After the dream stream perhaps I'll be calling them again.
As someone who was in the planted and saltwater aquarium hobby before gardening. You so can use the water and even alage for your plants. Mom would use it on her house plants and they way the greened up and grew was so beautiful.
It is so funny to hear you comment on the possibility that you could have killed that nice water lily, but we all do things that we aren't sure about, no matter how much reading we do on the subject. But kudos to you for digging right in. We live and learn.
We have a sandbox that my kids played in for years and years, and now my grandkids play in it all summer long. They get to use the hose, make mud, villages, paths for cars, castles with gardens…it's about 8' x 14' and was well worth our investment!!!
You mentioned garden showsโฆโฆin South Carolina, The Charleston Festival will be having its open homes and garden tours, March 14-April 14, 2024 (tickets needed), if youโre interested. Charleston is a small town and if you stay in town, everything is within walking distance. It has museums, a beautiful harbor, great shopping and amazing restaurants; the airport is only 15 minutes away by Uber, taxi.
Whatever happened with the Browns Bracken Magnolia that you got and your dad was skeptical about? We have two here, and they are happy except that the deer like to scrape on them! Curious if it grew there?
Laura and Aaron watch friends season 7 ep 3. The same story about the cookie recipe handed down from phoebes grandmother but was the Nestleโ Toll house cookie mix. Definitely a joke. ๐๐
I felt so sad when you planted those Hibiscus in the Neverland area…….. will you bring them closer to your inner gardens?? Do you only plant cast away plants into the Neverland area?? If you do not love them??? If so, I would love to see you create a RED floral garden in that Neverland area……
I think I would order a new water lily just incase. And I expect a barn to be built because you started to plant trees on the new property that's my guess.
My zone is or same as yours – but your amendments work perfectly for me ! ( high PH) Now, have a Local garden center who carries your recommended brand. Anyway – I have been planting ๐ณ, fruits NOT RECOMMENDED for my zone. They may struggle the first year but ok by me for solid root structure most important. This was the 3rd year and growing leaps & bounds 2023. Mostly perennials and pomegranate trees. Amazingly, patience is a must. Koi begin to lay eggs after water temps reach 35 to 38ยฐF. So if you want them to survive (baby fry) – maybe place a mat of 4 to 6 inch grass looking sheet mat in a sheltered area. ( as hiding shelter.) Weighted down and girls will deposit eggs there. Continued success and Best of Winter Wonderland Season to everyone !
Laura, why don't you collaborate with Greg and the Aquascaoe company and do a series on fixing your Grandparent's pond?ย I'm sure the company would like the free publicity as your channel is so popular, as well as drawing in a whole new clientele for their business of people in a similar situation with an older pond. Monica's and your Sister-in-law's beauriful backyard redo's had many companies donate to the project and a pond re-new would be a blessing to your Grandparents
My grandkids used to hang six ornaments on the same branch so some spots of our tree had massive amounts of ornaments but much of it was totally bare. I always left it just the way they decorated it. Now that they are older, the tree looks lovely as the ornaments are evenly dispersed. I have to admit that I somewhat miss how scraggly our tree used to look. ๐

Lol I was going to say get a kiddie pool and fill it with sand. They would love that
Use a shower rod!
A fake pond is a total indulgence. Power to ya if you can pull it off. Money spent could be used to feed the poor.
shower rods for the garlands
What makes you the judge๐ ๐
I know how the frogs found your pond. You have 261K subscribers. Word gets around! ๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ

You can buy kids swimming pool s with covers.
A shower curtain tension rod would probably work. They are pretty sturdy
The tension rod you were talking about was actually a shower curtain rod.

And fill it with sand instead of water .
Perhaps it is a shower curtain spring rod that others were using for their garland decor.๐
They have tension rods that hold shower curtains that are thicker.
Use a shower curtain rod.
I used an adjustable shower curtain rod to hang my garland in my wider room entrances. I purchased it on Amazon.

Beware next Spring you will have an abundance of frog eggs. You will have to clean out of the filter.

Love your recaps. Tension shower rods would probably work for your kitchen window.

Laura the tension rods that are big might be shower rods that have the tension rod thing … lol… that keeps the shower curtin up… most come in white

A swimming pool requires more maintenance than the pond.
