hot compost pile, heat mats and a few lights inside plus a small space heater for the coldest nights. it stays above 40F but this time of year never gets above 50. figs, olives, citrus, and herbs inside- and I’ve got celtuce, lettuce and cabbage starts going.

we just got it finished in early October so it’s very disorganized, I’m hoping to be able to scrap together shelves, maybe a sand floor and some soil heater cords for next winter.

it’s a lot easier to keep warm than my previous hoophouse was (it was a cattle pen with layers of tarp and greenhouse plastic)

here’s the hoophouse in 2021 in January. it was 7x14x8 tall. the new one is I think 10x20x10 tall.
I ran a space heater and heat mats in the old one. I’m probably going to give it away this coming spring, right now I used the frame for shade cloth in the hot months though in another part of the garden.

the old one was built for free from salvaged materials; the new one is half from a kit with an the added stuff salvaged.

here’s some interior photos. I’ve still got so much work to do, the ground is sunken in and I need to fill it, insulate it. and organize better. I need shelves and tables. etc
