Online nurseries are taking fruit tree orders for 2024, and to my shock, fruit tree prices are up 50-100%! These big price increases will make it harder to afford buying fruit trees and may slow many gardener’s plans for expansion. My fear is that high prices will stop people from expanding their gardens and growing food. These price increases have motivated me to double down, and this spring will be the largest expansion of my food forest in history. Because I view fruit trees as investing in food security rather than an expense, I’m choosing to cut costs elsewhere and complete my vision.
