Fruit Tree Prices Just DOUBLED! Here’s What You Need To Know

Online nurseries are taking fruit tree orders for 2024, and to my shock, fruit tree prices are up 50-100%! These big price increases will make it harder to afford buying fruit trees and may slow many gardener’s plans for expansion. This video discusses why the cost of plants is so high and what you need to know to move forward.

My fear is that high prices will stop people from expanding their gardens and growing food. These price increases have motivated me to double down, and this spring will be the largest expansion of my food forest in history. Because I view fruit trees as investing in food security rather than an expense, I’m choosing to cut costs elsewhere and complete my vision. I believe these challenging times are a wake-up call for us, and if you have the ability to plant fruit trees in your yard, now is the best time to do so. I also show you where to buy fruit trees from my favorite nurseries.

  2. I’m keeping my trees in pots. A little more challenging, but this may not be my forever home so they can always go with me.

  3. Even more reason for people to start trading cuttings from their established trees with their local neighbors. I grew a dozen apple trees from seed and grafted on cuttings from friends and neighbors of their apples pears etc that I knew were great fruit.

  4. I agree sooo sooo much! You can buy a few berry plants or a small fruit tree For what a few big bags of dried fruit cost… & they will pay for themselves over & over. Thay bag of fruit will be gone & so will youre money. If there ever was a time to start growing your own food- its now!

  5. They shut down all of the oil drilling and oil and gas production in the US. The clowns running the country right now did this.. Scumbag Biden and the DemocRATS.. People are have a hard time feeding their families now its a dam sham.

  6. I noticed you are putting trees quite close to the fence so I’m wondering if you won’t have them eventually push up against or going off the fence to the other side when they mature?

  7. I ripped out one of my plums this year. Replaced it with an apple… and it was almost $90 for that single tree ($38 tree, $49 shipping). Oh well. Price of having an amazing yard. 😁

  8. Here is New Zealand there is a 'strawberry shortage ' there's no plants in any shops and its looking like they will be charging a fortune for them this summer here

  9. Math is a liiiiiittle simplistic. That Meyer Lemon tree didn't just cost $15. It cost that, plus the cost of the water it uses, plus the cost of the fertilizer used on it, plus the cost of any pest control products used, plus the cost of the labor spent planting, maintaining, and harvesting. I'm not disputing that fruit trees are a good investment, I believe that they are, for sure. But it's not as simple as "I paid $15 or $40 for this and now it has $100 worth of fruit on it".

Overall great video though. The current administration's anti-energy policies have been one of the most damaging things to the country over the last few years. Energy is the lifeblood of the economy, policies that kill energy production will have an easily predictable outcome on the downstream effects of that energy. So easily predictable that one might almost question whether they're doing it on purpose.

  10. Very interesting information!
Do you know anything about Everglades farm?
Also by curiosity, are you in the economy or financial sector? I liked how you plugged the economy concepts to gardening! 😄

  11. Unfortunately everything you said was absolutely true You might also take in consideration the weather to hot in some areas other areas to much rain disease and especially with citrus trees they're short on root stocks in many areas. Knowing this info I ordered abundance of root stocks. I sold my 2-year-old fruit and citrus trees recently I sold them for $50 a piece I had so many people I did not have enough trees I sold 86. On the first day I went to a big box store and seeing what their prices were just for saplings and was shocked. I had a variety apples peaches plums and many verities of citrus. I think your info was really good 😊
