Wise decisions 🙂 You all are being tested that's for sure. It's dry here too right now…I was outside prepping beds and cleaning up summer spent plants in my tshirt in November….amazing in SWOhio. Solving your drought issues in farming might just be the most critical decision ever. You all have planned so well – thank you for sharing Danny.

Just a reminder to people to know where your animal manure is coming from. Make sure there are no chemicals in it from what the animals had been consuming, such as grazon.
When deer are hungry enough, nothing seems to work.
Living traditions homestead has had good results with double fencing in order to keep deer out.

Hello Danny an Wanda. I'm new to attempting to grow onions. I'm in 6b and I'm looking at Dixondale Candy onions. When is the best time to plant them? I have several 4x12x 24" deep raised beds. I've mended them with chicken and horse manure this fall. Thx for all your videos.

I dont know how or when the time will come when other people will be starving and will be a lot worse than just hungry deer. I'm personally praying for rapture, but whatever God's plan is.. I do think that lessons in the Bible tell us to be prepared. I've had problems keeping my pantry.
I am planting a patch just for the deer next year, near the woods and creek. Might help keep them off my food.

Yes they'll eat the potatoes and the tomatoes 😢 we have bought 2 great Pyrenees that will be patrolling the perimeter of our main garden. Two electric netting fences 30 ft apart for their run. Tried bone sauce, fishing line etc. nothing works for long. My bee hives will also be protected inside the garden. 🙏🏻

Those deer are certainly hungry enough to go over the fence. The deer need to eat and the bugs
of course too.
I like what your doing with the raised bed. I pray you have super good success with what your growing.

Can you plant Asparagus in the last section
Try marigolds. Deer & other critters don't like the smell of marigolds. Also, marigolds kill nematodes. From I've read in my research, deer don't like strongly scented plants like mint, sage, marigolds, rosemary, etc. However, we have had multiple droughts here & when the deer get hungry, they'll eat anything. I've seen them eat wild native sage, which they usually hate & avoid.
Very dangerous and plain wrong to have those "bridles" on those cattle when unattended.

You know darn well cattle rub and scratch. They can very easily get that bridle hung up tgen the animal ianics and can hurt itself.
Very disappointing to see such disregard.
You need a double perimeter fence to keep them out, spaced 5 feet apart, so they will be afraid to jump and not clear both.
Deer will munch on the potatoes but not the onions!
You should build your area like Living Homestead with a mote system A double Tpost system placed 6/8 feet apart.
The deer's depth perception will not allow them to jump the 6ft. fence.
They made a chicken run for their chickens in the mote area.
If you can find hanging pots, like the ones that you use on balcony rails, they would probably work to hang off the top of the dog pen.
Just one extra space to plant small stuff like lettuces, radishes, and marigolds.
It might be high enough that the deer won’t notice it right away.
