Container Gardening

Best way to water containers #watering #oyas

⁣⁣Planting in containers is a simple way to add beauty and additional growing areas to your yard. ⁣

However, plants in containers dry out more quickly than those in the ground or in raised beds. My favorite way to water outdoor potted plants is by using oyas.⁣

Oyas are terracotta pots you bury in your garden or container and fill with water. The porous nature of the terra cotta allows the water inside to seep out slowly to water plants at the roots. ⁣

Here in the low desert, I use them year-round. Cold-climate gardeners should put them away during the colder months.⁣

Comment Oya, and I’ll send you a link and discount code to the ones I like to use. ⁣

  1. They are a bit pricey for me. I've seen tera cotta pots mad3 into watering containers. I might try one.

  2. Since the Phoenix area might get a frost or two in January, do you feel the need to dig them up and take them out beforehand? I'm seeing posts from growoya that say to do it, but I'm hoping that our frosts aren't hard enough to worry about.
