Here we are. One year after I started this thing. Started off with barely any foliage and ended up with so much I can barely even see through it above the water line lol. I’d say that one of the most interesting things was getting to observe a damselfly grow all the way from a tiny little nymph to an adult. However, I think this’ll be the last monthly update I do for this particular system. I also think I might repurpose the plants and substrate in this system in addition to my fishbowl system into the water side of a second attempt at an all natural paludarium. Just like all of my other systems, this palu will be closed to the outside world. However, unlike all of my other systems, this palu will have a layer of rocks beneath the terrestrial substrate to act as an extra buffer against erosion. You can think of it being like a rocky shoreline on the coastline of Maine or the UK. In my first attempt, which the fishbowl was originally supposed to be, I tried using compacted clay instead. That worked well for a few months, but eventually failed. Until I get around to actually doing the repurposing, I might continue to post updates if I see anything particularly interesting happen. Thank you all for joining me in this journey and may we continue to share many more journeys in the future! 😁
