  1. Still have grasshoppers here – will buy tule type netting and cover racks for the raised beds and will make same for the pots and planters. Ugh. NEEM did not work nor did Garlic/Hot Pepper/Dawn dish soap Sprays. Mockingbirds are helping but so many bugs! The grasshoppers are so desperate they are actually eating fallen Fruitless Mulberry leaves and finishing off the remaining Bearded Iris vegetation. Glad you are getting some of the needed work done. Cooler here and windy and we had a sprinkle a few days ago which is rare. I so appreciate your wonderful videos Kaye! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Keep your flower garden at the house with the Rhododendrons and Azaleas and others. Will be fine. Do what you can!

  2. Oh Kaye! You ARE an inspiration! At least to me! We are the same age, and you are kicking it! I wish I had more space, I'd be doing a lot of what you're doing. I have my raised beds, my two little chickens, Ouiser and Clairee…my doodle dog, and I do what I can, with what I have. You have given me so much great information from your channel, and your love of gardening, animals, and your love of learning! I wish we were neighbors!
I worry about you over doing it, though. I do the same thing…but I'm learning to pace myself. I don't have help for gardening, etc. I do have a lovely couple that come and do things around the house I can't do, I have cathedral ceilings, so cleaning fans, lights etc isn't a job I can handle. They call my townhouse and yard the Tiny Farm!😂
    I'm being too chatty, sorry!
The name I have given my tiny farm is Laughingstock Cottage!😂
Take care, have a wonderful Thanksgiving and God bless you and your kitties, your Mom and friends!

  3. Gotta mention, too…when you show the fast speed of you in the yard, it reminds me of the old talkies films….Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, etc! It's a hoot!😂😂

  4. Nice Video Kaye, so happy you made decisions you feel were beneficial. You can always pick up to garden more later dirt ain’t goin nowhere. Relaxing music thanks. Best wishes getting your Mojo(Austin Powers) back(energy from your broken knee and catastrophic loss) Thanks for the video ♥️🌻🎬🥂=cheers

  5. I had to scale back too! Concentrating now on what I can do to cut down on weeds in the areas I'm keeping. Happy Thanksgiving darlin!

  6. I just wanted to say I think your an amazing woman and thank you for all you give !🙏I will find out what cat ,I'm so sorry to hear of your loss . They are all so special! God bless you and thank you for your inspiration 👍🙏

  7. I ended up homeless had the chicken coop had the garden at a friend's house .im not giving up on my little homestead. 🙏its a challenging life.Godbless to all and happy Thanksgiving

  8. Looking good. Have a happy Thanksgiving. God bless. How's mom? Give her a hug for me when you visit her. Love and hugs!!

  9. You've been very busy miss Kaye. I've been M.i.a due to spending more time with Jesus. Sorry to hear of yur kitty cat 😥💔

  10. Beautiful filming sister Kaye. Luv yur hat and your choice of music. It's very calming and soothing. God bless you ❤😇

  11. kaye your adventure is to like reading the adventures of
Tom Sawyer, and Huckleberry Finn that i read as a kid in Utah
your willpower and energy is awesome
ut take it steady "do a little but do it often" Ed

  12. You are right the weeds are just tremendous here. I'd go out to pull weeds and in minutes my skin would feel like bacon in the skillet..I saw online landscape cloth with pre cut holes of different dimensions, so will try that next year. I think the only way to grow Roselle is in a poly tunnel, with the darn early freezes that kill it prematurely.. I worked so hard last winter and got barely anything so I'm not even going to bother this winter.. I still have three big braids of garlic. All my Frost blankets disintegrated in the shed this summer. I need to replant all my perennials because the tall ones buried the short ones, and that's all I'm going to do this winter!

  13. I’ve been amazed at your determination, hard work & successes! I only have a tiny raised garden & some beds around our house & street & I am often feeling overwhelmed keeping up with our 2.5 acres with woods along back border plus woods & wetlands down one side (constantly trying to encroach into our cleared space! My 3 grandsons are not nearby now…off in school & so I must hire help (gets costly, right?)! But you inspire me to do more. Glad you are reducing some of your demands. You’ve proved a lot about your capacity to create terrific gardens & harvest great produce despite the challenges of nature & the land! I did not put in a Winter Garden this year. Decided to only protect the growing beets with covers; planted garlic & some sprouting little potatoes buried deep under 6-7” of straw & leaves (experiment) and a few carrots still hanging in there. I’ll spend winter planning & making some changes based on what I’ve learned & want to eat &/or grow! More herbs & medicinals & flowers & perennials…easier (Ruth Stout?)! Love following
Your Adventures & feeling your losses both personal & garden-wise. You are someone I’d like to know as a friend & you make us feel like we are! I’ve lived a very full 81 years…lived in many places & met many kinds of folks & I am so impressed by you! Rest over Winter, order seeds, plan for Spring, start your seedlings & indulge in your homegrown bounty! You’ve done Good, Kaye, and your “following” really cares about you!!!
JClaire in MA…Snow Flurries tonight! Winter is here! God Bless You. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

  14. My flower garden has now become several patches of what the pollinators like planted amongst the vegetables in my raised beds. (zinnias, giant zinnias, alyssum, sunflowers, flowering herbs – the ones I allow to go to seed, butterfly bushes, hollyhocks, etc) I still have berry bushes but enjoy getting the other things I don't raise or grow from local farmers and orchards. I enjoy talking with those folks. It's fun and interesting. I am no longer physically capable of growing a lot of excess to give away, but I can still get it done for my family and I feel good about supporting local agriculture. You can still have an amazing channel homesteading on a smaller scale. In this case, size doesn't matter – lol …content does. Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

  15. I love the sounds of walking through fallen leaves 🍁 I live nestled by forest on 3 sides and the leaves this year seem more than ever before🍁Lots of mulch and leaf mold aahhh

  16. Nice video, my wife and I watched it on the big tv, you have beautiful garden. Very serene. Scaling back on some things is part of learning process

  17. You know your land better now, along with your limitations. So you’ll be able to plan where to plant things that are more conducive to yourself.
    God bless and take care
