#growing #TARO in a #bucket in our #urbangarden 🌿 #huge #edible #leaves πŸ˜‹ #food #galore πŸŽ‰

#Taro , known as #Gabi here in the #Philippines is a #plant which you can #eat both the #leaves and #stems of while you are #waiting for the #root to be ready for #harvest πŸͺ΄πŸ’š
It also makes for a #beautiful #ornamental #plant as it has #massive #leaves and looks #similar to some #species of #ornamental #plants 🌿

In #southeastasia, both the #leaves and the #stalls are harvested and cooked in various ways – one of the ways leaves are prepared in the #Philippines is they are cooked in #CoconutMilk with #chilli and a bunch of other ingredients to make the well known #traditional #dish #laing.

From #seedling to #harvest for the root is around 9-12 months and Taro can also be cooked in many different ways according to where it is being used.
