So my first pere graft barely took. I couldn’t get a real great picture but it looks like it only took right around the ring. Maybe not the whole ring though. I used rooted pere that had been recently watered and the water may have pushed the scion up a bit around the edges. It’s not looking bad and it’s been 11 days.

Will this be enough of a union to hold it up so it doesn’t fall off once it starts growing? And is it enough of a union to get decent growth? I’ve read people use unrooted pere for grafts but how long after cutting it do you wait to graft?

Pictures 2-4 are my quiabentia, aquosa and spathuleta that is under my main light, is the red caused by too much light? The quiabentia is very red. I’ve read that a tinge of red is good but that looks like more than a tinge. My light is a mars hydro fc-e4800 in a 3×3 tent so there’s not much drop off on the edges. So I’m worried it is too strong for the pere and pere grafts.

Can you recommend alternative lighting options? I’m currently building a shelf to sow seeds on and will have a t5 on one shelf for them and was thinking of getting some 30 watt t8s to go on the shelves underneath to hopefully transition the seedlings to from the t5 until they can graduate to the main tent or outside. I’m considering wrapping the shelf in mylar. I’ll link the t8s below. Will 2 or 3 of the t8 be enough to grow my pere and pere grafts under? If not could you recommend something that would. Or could you recommend a good ppfd range to keep them in?

Thank you greatly for taking the time to read this long ass post. I’m still pretty new and learning as I go. You guys have already been a huge help already with me just lurking in the subs. All your help is very appreciated!!

Hard saying! I’ve had pere grafts take just fine with iffy looking unions, you’ll just have to wait and see but I think it should be fine. When you do some more grafts try to use pere with more leaves as they’ll aid in photosynthesis as the graft is still so small. Once the scion really starts to pump and grow the leaves may and/or will start to drop off which is fine and normal. Some folks will say you don’t need pere leaves but I don’t agree with that for micrografts. In my experience a really fresh and healthy pere with as many leaves as you can retain on the plant will accelerate growth faster earlier on.
As far as the red on your plants I think that’s fine for the pere itself, but sometimes micrografts can get light burned under too strong of light.. if you scroll thru my profile for awhile you’ll see some plants of mine that have gone thru that. A bunch to T5s work great for micro grafts and I also have LED boards that work equally as well as long as they have a dimmer. Good luck and keep us posted!
