Hey y’all! I have a question regarding the best way to finish the baseboard for my greenhouse. My wife wanted a greenhouse and I picked up a 15×50 commercial hoop house that I’ve been building in our yard. We have a gradual slope in the yard that is pretty obvious over 50 ft – however I leveled all the ground posts with my laser level and made sure I had sufficient depth on all of the posts.

I didn’t want to go through the trouble and expense of grading out the site, and my initial plan is to simply run another course of deck board flush with the ground, and then use plywood to close the gap. Does anyone else recommend a different technique? The roll up sides will come down parallel to the top of this baseboard, so I just need to fill in the long and skinny triangle with something simple and cost effective. Thanks in advance! Happy to answer any questions as well.

I just ran my baseboard at the same angle as grade. I figure re-mounting yours would be the cheapest and easiest option.

If you want it solid, start at the far side, run a board straight until the top edge is level with the ground. Cut it & go back to that side & run the next board until the top edge is level to the ground, repeat until you get to the other side.

I know it’s a pain but I’d dig out the close side to lower the height of the far side. An extra 6” makes a big difference. Then patch in another 2×6 or 8 and fill with dirt. Looks like you still need to get the channel up on your endwalls too. It never hurts to run channel to the top of your baseboards so you can button it up tight in the winter. You can also strap it down so it stays tight but it will still flap a little in the wind. I build greenhouses for a living.
