Detroit, Eminem’s hometown, recently hosted the Iris 2023 – the International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems. It was a thrilling event that showcased cutting-edge advancements in the field. From the creation of robots on demand using artificial intelligence to the announcement of a device running on an OS developed by Chad GPT itself, the conference was packed with exciting developments.

But let’s take a moment to look at what’s on the horizon. Dubai, a mecca for sophisticated nomads and connoisseurs, recently concluded the GITEX Global, one of the largest technology and startup events in the world. Our team had the privilege of attending this exhibition, gaining an inside scoop on the latest innovations. Fast forward to early December, when the International Robot Exhibition in Japan will kick off. This incredible show will feature new products from Japanese robotics companies, promising a glimpse into the future of robotics.

Now, let’s dive into the nitty-gritty of Iris 2023. While primarily supporting student startups and novice engineers, major conglomerates like Disney Research also made their presence felt. Disney’s engineers have been working tirelessly on robots capable of conveying emotions and evoking feelings in people. Their latest creation, a robot affectionately dubbed the “child of Wall-E and Eve,” showcased remarkable design prowess. Developed entirely by a neural network, this cute robot, resembling a chicken, captured the attention of visitors as it curiously explored its surroundings, seeking pats and interaction.

Disney Research also presented a groundbreaking system that utilizes reinforcement learning. This system can be easily integrated into any machine, thanks to its expressive movement and reliability. With the ability to train robots’ movements incrementally, adjusting factors such as motor performance and weight distribution, the system ensures that these robots can adapt and behave accordingly in any real-world scenario.

At Iris 2023, the Animal-Inspired Motion and Robotics Lab received recognition for its robot designed for rescue missions. This tiny, insect-like bot can change shape and move in all directions, adapting to various terrains and confined spaces. Another notable project was the simulated whole-body learning system for a humanoid robot, which demonstrated promising potential for training robots through human guidance. This approach, gaining popularity in the field, allows robots to learn and generalize tasks, optimizing posture, torque, and contact force.

The exhibition also showcased the Hector robot, an open-source, cost-effective, and powerful hardware platform developed by the Dynamic Robotics and Control Laboratory at the University of Southern California. With projects like Hector and Bruce, an open platform humanoid robot for research and education, engineering universities worldwide are entering a new era of robotics research.

  1. I only subscribe to this channel so I get an idea of when judgement day is approaching.

  2. You need to do more videos please. I know making this videos that are 10 to 15 mins long takes hours and hours of hard work of editing everything. I know how it all works people don't seem to understand that it takes alot of Dedication to make a Video like this I love your videos keep them coming make as many as you can because I know it is not easy. I give your Video and your Channel a 5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 Star most definitely keep up the Great work you have fans that appreciate what you do.

  3. I don’t know why researchers seem to think that robot insects or actual insects with chips wired to them is so great for search and rescue. There seem to be 2 things needed for search and rescue in collapsed buildings: the ability to hear screams or heartbeats under rubble and the ability to cut through and remove debris. Crawling through cracks seems like a waste of time.

The use of evolutionary design is great but I don’t think that designing a squirming sponge is a great demonstration of it.

A robot chef combined with a cooking environment designed for it is a superior idea. New uses for robots will need to experiment to see where it is better to have a robot adapted for a human environment and where it is better to adapt the environment for the robot. At home the former, in a work place it may be the latter or a combination of the 2.

  4. I like this format the best, with no host, just speak and images. Thanks for the video. Great content.

  5. The future robots are designed to look innocent, charm you, get you hooked, and make you addicted as much as possible so the collecting of data can occur as smooth as possible.

  6. βœ“ I believe we are meant to be like Jesus in our hearts and not in our flesh. But be careful of AI, for it is just our flesh and that is it. It knows only things of the flesh (our fleshly desires) and cannot comprehend things of the spirit such as peace of heart (which comes from obeying God's Word). Whereas we are a spirit and we have a soul but live in the body (in the flesh). When you go to bed it is your flesh that sleeps but your spirit never sleeps (otherwise you have died physically) that is why you have dreams. More so, true love that endures and last is a thing of the heart (when I say 'heart', I mean 'spirit'). But fake love, pretentious love, love with expectations, love for classic reasons, love for material reasons and love for selfish reasons that is a thing of our flesh. In the beginning God said let us make man in our own image, according to our likeness. Take note, God is Spirit and God is Love. As Love He is the source of it. We also know that God is Omnipotent, for He creates out of nothing and He has no beginning and has no end. That means, our love is but a shadow of God's Love. True love looks around to see who is in need of your help, your smile, your possessions, your money, your strength, your quality time. Love forgives and forgets. Love wants for others what it wants for itself. Take note, love works in conjunction with other spiritual forces such as faith and patience. We should let the Word of God be the standard of our lives not AI. If not, God will let us face AI on our own and it will cast the truth down to the ground, it will be the cause of so much destruction like never seen before, it will deceive many and take many captive in order to enslave them into worshipping it and abiding in lawlessness. We can only destroy ourselves but with God all things are possible. God knows us better because He is our Creater and He knows our beginning and our end. Our prove text is taken from the book of John 5:31-44, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12, Daniel 7-9, Revelation 13-15, Matthew 24-25 and Luke 21. Let us watch and pray… God bless you as you share this message to others.
