It’s time to transplant or thin your seedlings when the’ve developed their second set of true leaves. The first leaves to emerge are called cotyledons or seed leaves. Cotyledons supply nutrients needed for the seed to both germinate and established itself for about the first 2 weeks when its first true leaves are formed and are able perform photosynthesis to make their own food.
At this stage the seedlings are going to need just a bit more space for their developing roots. You can thin in place by simply pinching off the weaker seedlings. Ideally, you would want them at a minimum of 2 inches apart. #shorts #gardening #garden
