Garden Plans

My Gardening Week Was Ruined

We are not in kansas anymore, Danny! The start of the week was going so well! I popped out and bought spring bulbs. I managed to get some, however I am really missing Wilkos now. I also setup the drone to take some shots from above. however the disasters started… I almost lost my drone. it flew off into the distance. After searching for an hour I found it. I then start preparing for storm Ciaran. I removed the metal sheeting from the ground that could blow into the polytunnel and cause a polytunnel disaster. I also sowed some winter Hardy spring onions in module trays by container wise. The allotment fees are due. I pay £57.04p for both.. The Grapevine Garden and the Fig and Olive. The storm hit south wales and boy did it rain and rain!!! All the no dig raised beds looked washed by the rainstorm. I then caught covid and that knocked me so much. I’ve been very poorly which has ruined my gardening week. I also harvested my Swede for my #swedabagachallenge2023 . The winner was revealed! Welldone to everyone who entered!
I think the giant swede mystery was solved. I also harvested some potatoes for Steve’s channel. I then discuss my next week’s plans. I’m going to mulch the raised beds with coco coir. The reason I’m doing this is because last year I noticed no slug attacks on that raised bed. Do slugs hate coco coir? I also discuss my plans to add light switches to the polytunnel and also fit a 12v cigarette lighter socket so I can add my fan into the tunnel when I need to be cooled down and also to cool down the polytunnel by using solar powered energy. I was also donated an old strawberry planter, I’m going to convert that into a wildlife hotel for frogs. I also discuss the asparagus bed and how to protect it over winter.

  6. Blimey Danny how many times have you caught Covid now? i can think of twice at least you have to defo keep safe at all times even in your job at the hospital🏥🩺🚑
Storm Ciaran came through a bit where i live but not on the day it was supposed to, as that day it was just a bit breezy that was it a bit like what you said "the calm before the storm" but with a bit of a breeze😂 however, the next day it was blowing mad wind and heavy rain the fence in our garden was rattling like crazy, and at one point it was very nearlly bye bye to it and as for the rain blimey it lashed it down🌧☔
Anyway look after yourself and get well soon🌡🤒
    Take Care and Stay Safe😷
    Barry (the Wirral)👍

  7. Glad to see you on the mend mate, think if you do a challenge next year I will have a go. Will try and find out the cost of our plot but ours is not normally till February. Take care and am sure you will get all those jobs done.

  8. What a week! Don’t rush around too much Danny, the fatigue element of Covid is the worst bit. Make sure you rest and listen to your body hun. The rain has been dreadful. I haven’t seen a wetter autumn for quite a few years. I am In Surrey and we avoided the worst of the wind but boy has it rained. I swear I saw Noah sail past a few times last week, it felt biblical! I am so behind with everything, no garlic in yet and I have nontoxic cleared my greenhouse not cleaned it out .
So don’t worry Danny you managed to give us a video this weekend thank you, just don’t over do it. Your plans will come together and hopefully we get a period of drier weather to get on with those little jobs a bit at a time. 😊😊 Take care hun. X

  9. Hi Danny, not sure many will beat us here in Poole, Dorset. We pay 90p per metre which is roughly £100 for a half plot !!!! Includes water troughs, but no toilets or amenities….

  11. COVID is really nasty, I sympathize. Can You tell Me where You got all Your Solar powered stuff from (apart from the Water feature) & how You rate it performance wise please?

  12. I hope you’re feeling better Danny!! Don’t worry about the list, I’m so far behind as well, just need some dry weather!
