“I’m getting a new houseplant; how do I know if I’m picking out a healthy one?”
🪴 Great question! Once you’ve decided what type to bring home, look for a plant with:
1. Leaves that are lush and full. *Bonus* if you find a plant with both mature leaves and new leaf shoots.
2. Firm, healthy roots. Mushy, brown roots can be a sign of root rot.
3. This one is important — no insect pests! Check the soil surface and underside of leaves for aphids or fungus gnats.
