  1. In the winter time I put my kitchen scrap in 5 gallon bucket I have some holes in the bottom of the buckets and just sit it in the garden , I also put a heavy brick on top to keep critters out.

  2. Blending your scraps up in a blender almost made me vomit. Worms want food not soupy liquid. I started building my growing totes and buckets using your method of soil building with sticks, leaves, compost, soil in layers. I now have my neighbor doung the same things to save on soil and using all her yard waste. She doesnt garden, but does do a lot of flowers and plants in pots. I am in the process of removing my surface ground garden beds because they were being taken over by surrounding tree roots. I'm building a bed 2ft above ground for my totes to set on which will make it much easier for me to garden at 70. I have also started last month using a compost in place with containers. Let me tell you that this is so much easier then a big compost bin that just feeds the ground below it.

  3. That chopping action will kill most of the natural microbes that are already in your scraps waiting to get busy.

Viele liebe Grüße, Basia aus Nordwestdeutschland ❤

  5. I was a first-time gardener in the north. I thought I didn't have room for a compost pile. So I had an old blender, and that was the route I went.
I used the blended scraps to sustain my plants all summer. I think it's worked well. I have had plenty of worms and my plants seem pretty big.
When I take the plants down and keep my soil for next year, I'll add the scraps directly to the totes.
I would not have had the courage or know-how to approach gardening in totes without your videos. I was shocked that I could grow anything. Yet, it's late fall, and I'm still getting tomatoes. Thank you for what you do.

  6. I’m doing this… scraps are the best to add to composting all except fats and bones for I’ll attract ants and the such but everything else is pure gold and food for our plants. Thank you Auntie Robby

  7. Can I add egg shells, uncooked, directly into the raised beds for next year? I scramble 2 eggs every morning and hate to throw the shells in the trash can.

  8. Its a chore getting to the composter thru the winter. I fill buckets on the porch throughout the cold months. By spring, the freeze and thaw cycle turns it into a sloppy mess. I just mix it into the composter when I can finally get to it. When the weather is right for planting, its ready.

  9. Do you cut the banana peels to 2 in or so for the compost? and can your compost get bugs if it's on a bucket to collect the gold water? I live on a an apt and have a patio so, I made a compost with buckets with lids and holes in the bottom and sides. But the bucket under it does not have any holes in it just the lid off to collect the compost water.

  10. These people have me washing my eggshells before I compost them. I saw a video you did the other day where you cracked an egg and put the whole egg in your compost tote. Does that mean salmonella is not a concern? If so, I'll stop washing my eggshells. LOL!
