This jar is like 2 weeks old. I realize now that a lot of the plant life died in the last couple of days. We also had a LOT of small worms, and one skinny boi that was about 4 inches long and the width of a toothpick. He disappeared a few days ago.

I’m not quite sure what happened, but it looks like gas is trapped in those bubbles.

That looks a little like yeast that I sometimes see on lacto fermented food

I suspect there is a biofilm on the surface due to death of some organisms. And then gas bubbles are trapped in the biofilm. The Gas could be from decomposition -or photosynthesis since it looks like you still have living plants in there.
