  1. Totally agree about the walk to the allotment, its the warm up before the exercise in the outdoor gym. Steve would be proud of you with your work on the polytunnel.

  2. What an achievement……. up and built before the cold weather really kicks in for the winter, Steve will be so proud of the apprentice👌👌👍👍👌👌👍👍
    thoughts of the day,,,,,,,,,,,
    – do you still have the small green blow away greenhouse that you had in one of the glasshouses
    – at your potting station that you said you were going to set up, place the blow away to give your sowings, potted on seedlings and cuttings etc some extra early/late on in the season
    – get a couple of rose arches to go just inside the doorways (one at each end) to grow melon/cucumbers/small pattypan squash etc over. Looks good and good use of space
    – if you don't need access through doors you could consider doing what Tony has done and put your potting bench right across the back of the tunnel but you will still get fresh air via the sliding door.
    – Make sure you level your potting bench so when you water the seedlings in the drip trays the water doesn't pool at one end
    – underneath your potting bench use the space to organise your pots so they are all to hand
    – get one of Steve's hanging shelves up to keep vermin off the seedlings and as the chilli plants tend to be shorter growing that might be a suitable spot
    – don't forget some doorway protection for the summer to keep pests out
    – how about some hanging baskets with strawberries hanging from the support bars, you should get a nice early crop

You are going to have so much fun plotting and planning your new growing space I cant wait to see what lies ahead. Can't wait to see what you come up with 😁😁

  3. Just cut it yah silly bloke. You’ll have to redo it every couple years anyways. Then high tunnels are never done. Hopefully you won’t have too much wind during the winter or you’ll see yourself redoing it next year.

  4. Bravo on finishing the poly tunnel! It truly was a work of love. Would Steve mind if I made a suggestion on how to protect the plastic wall from your metal door anchor you were worried about? Why not drill out the middle of some wine corks and slip them over the end? You can add as many as you need and leave the last one maybe with a tape in it so it won’t fall off. If you don’t drink wine, ask a few friends, Steve might like getting folks involved. Bravo again.👍❤️

  5. I can’t keep up with my half plot 😂 so I’ll stick with what I’ve got. I’ve grown butternut squash for the first time this year and got about 12 🎉 my plot neighbour asked me what I’d done to get so many, and I have not got clue 😂 just left them 🤷🏼‍♀️ . I think the 5 min job took you about 2 hours 😂 I’m the same, go down to a little job I’ll only be an hour I tell my husband, 2 hours later he is ringing me to make sure I’ve not had an accident 😂😂 Tunnel looks great JB 🎉

  6. Hi jb yes any thing grown is fantastic you have got a good crop there ! better than shop bought lv Irene 😘 xx

  7. Fabulous job with the polytunnel JB. I bet you can't wait to really get going in the Spring! Steve will be watching with pride.

  8. I know exactly what you mean about the door stopper thingy – why don't you put a patch of repair tape either side just to reinforce it a bit? I've been meaning to do it for the last couple of years but still haven't got around to it!

  9. 🎃 The ‘stalk’ of the pumpkin is called the ‘peduncle’ 😊😊 well done on the poly tunnel! Looking forward to the ribbon cutting ceremony!

  10. Hi JB, yay the polytunnel doors are complete, well done! Steve will be looking down and have a huge smile on his face ❤ great video update thanks for sharing and take care 😊

  11. JB, congratulations, the tunnel looks great. You've done so well to put that up and thank you for sharing the experience with us. You will have such fun with the polytunnel which is going to open up a whole new element to your allotment and vegetable growing. I would put some foam/insulation piping around the door drop bar just to be on the safe side. As you say, you don't want to pierce the plastic. Lovely harvest, well done. I've grown Uchiki Kiri for the first time this year along with butternut squash and lemon squash. I've had a very good harvest but on the other side of the coin I've lost half my leeks to alium leaf miner. Keep up the good work and thank you once again. Paul

  12. Well done JB, you've had a lot to do with getting the polytunnel up. I think any harvest, is a good harvest and will taste amazing. Jo Devon 🙂
