This is a random unrelated question for anyone who may live in Canada. I'll be moving to Alberta by next year and so, I'm trying to plan my garden for the zone which is 3b… I'm looking at the proven winners website and it shows that I can enter the Canadian postal code but nothing comes up. Does anyone know if I need to enter it a specific way or what? Any advice would be appreciated.
What a great video with so many things I’ve never thought about. I knew nothing about dahlia gall and how to recognize it. Those tables were perfect for the cleaning and drying job and I love how Paul just rolled up the annuals. Never would have thought of that either. It looked like the Tuts didn’t mind the colder weather. How cold before they bite the dust so to speak? I was so surprised they were still looking so good.
I love your cattail too. ❤️😁❤️
I just watched the tour of your parents home 2019. Did they get another sheep? And how is the house renovation coming along?
Have you ever saved any of your dahlia seed heads to collect seeds? I know they don't produce the same flower but it would be to see what they produce.
Laura, I have to tell you, I have been watching you for some time now. You have given me so much great information. We moved from Louisiana to Texas 9 years ago. Since that time we have struggled to get things to grow due to the high heat in the summers. This past one was horrible. But, I think I have found a few things that will tolerate this heat. One of your suggestions was the Supertunia Vista Bubblegum. That plant has been amazing the past 3 years. I have planted the Priscilla with it, and found that the Priscilla needs to be in its own pot. The Bubblegum takes over. And pruning them. OMG! I did that, and yes, it’s hard to chop off all the blooms , but wow!!! My plants just filled up again in no time.
I just can’t imagine how tired you must be at the end of each day!!! Thank you for all of these great videos! Oh, also, love the pond area and all of your stone walkways you guys are putting in.
Hi Laura and Aaron. Your garden is coming along so beautifully. I particularly love the pond area and the woody feel that you are going for around it – you’re giving me plenty of ideas. I have a question regarding the dahlia gall as I have had it on some of mine the last couple of years – do you know how it transfers to other dahlias? Thank you x
New to your site, a 60 year dahlia grower with bulbs from my grandparents farm from the 1890s. What do you do with all those bulbs. Do you market them. I spent 30 years in Indiana digging up tubers every year, then did myself a favor and moved to Northern California where my dahlias can winter over in the grounds. I had no idea I could do that. Every time I tend my flowers I wish my dad was still alive, because I would convince him to move with me. Some of my bulbs have passed from his mom to him and on to me. It makes it special for me. I cannot conceive of the work you put in and the amount of dahlias you have. Made me want to take a nap. Kudos to you for the energy expended and the love involved.
It’s a dirty job but so satisfying! Thanks you all worked very hard! 💪💪💪❤
When I dug out my dahlias, I had on plant that had round bulbs instead of long ones. Why was that? What's the different?
That is so much work! Where do you get your burlap material? Looking to get some free or relatively cheap. Cleaning up spent annuals is satisfying! Nice and tidy and thanks for sharing.
I remember last year you picked plenty of flowers from your garden, assembled many small floral arrangements and gave them away at the garden center. Just curious, why spend a huge amount of time with the Dahlia tubers…labeling, digging them up, storage, taking out of storage to divide, planting, etc… when in the end it looks like from the video many of them died with the cold weather. It just seems like a huge amount of time and effort (and money) to just toss out beautiful flowers. Thanks and I'll keep watching.
Wow! We all would love a Paul and Bethany! They're fantastic!
I need a Paul and Bethany! I think we're all jealous! lol Oh, if we all just had that much work ethic as you, Aaron, Paul, and Bethany! Love these videos. They're so satisfying to watch.
What ever happened to the beautiful hollyhock that growing in the middle of the yard.
Just in time to start putting up your Christmas lights! Looks great!
Oh wow ! All the beauties are gone 😢.
Mine are gone also.
Now to plan for next year!
I’m cracking up that you’re deep frying a Turkey in your formal versailles garden 😂
How many new tuber did you get off the 2 year plants, was there a difference?
Spectacular video !
So informative. Question. I’m in zone 5B, when is the soonest I can start dalias
In pots. Also I had a hard freeze on my NewGuinea impatiens and they looked just like your sure fire begonias but I only chopped off the stems. Should I have dug up the roots as well?
