Inside Blanche Vaughan’s Family Home in the English Countryside | Design Notes

Blanche Vaughan welcomes us into her hall house in Devon. Two big name decorators had already had a hand in its design before Blanche moved in: the late Robert Kime, assisted with the layout, furniture and lighting. Next came Camilla Guinness, who ‘cosied the place up,’ repainting the sitting room, adding bookcases, rehanging pictures and adding a new layer of fabrics, rugs and comfortable places to sit.

Alongside husband Hugo De Ferranti, Blanche has gently added her own taste to the mix and the house is a celebration of its setting, with spectacular views over Dartmoor, as well as a welcoming place to dine, stay and enjoy the moors. Watch the full episode of ‘Design Notes’ as we tour Blanche Vaughan’s family home with commanding views of Dartmoor’s craggy landscape.

  1. Such a calm, lovely lifestyle, away from the bustle of a city. She is fortunate to be able to consult with experts to handles aspects of this charmed life. So many of us would love to 'have it all', but with some creativity and planning can carve a comfortable refuge with this vibe in the space that we have. Wonderful inspiration. Not being too fussy goes a long way.

  2. what a magnificent home. as a former pastry chef and current/forever foodie/cook, i'm in love with her kitchen, dining room and incredible garden. the mix of classic and contemporary art is really well curated and enviable. she and Hugo have immaculate taste. and that VIEW. i will be coming back here to wishfully drool all over my keyboard often.

  3. Its a beautiful home, but can someone direct me to a video of someone who's done up a two up/ two down terrace house on a meagre budget AND is featured in home and garden or architectural digest video.

  4. Delightful, whimsical, and with just the right amount of quirkiness which I love ♥️

  5. I mean when the British do it right, its good. I mean just a stunning house and environment. (some of the newer wealth in Britain need to look to the past a bit…)

  6. To me the perfect country house – just the absolute perfect balance between coziness and relaxed elegance. Beautilully decorated without the frequently whitnessed clutter of just too many cushions, fabrics, patterns and deco items. Bravo!

  7. An outstanding beautiful home. When Blanche walked out onto her balcony, the view was stunning. It doesn’t get any better than that.

  8. Id like to know reason behind index and ring finger, being the only 2 polished. It so stands out to me. The home has a lovely setting.

  9. Beautiful video. This is what I expect people should be doing if they are fabulously wealthy and well-connected. They should be living like this. At least this couple are making the most of their extraordinary good luck in this world.
