The rocket beams in live from the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester this week, at the last conference before the next election. And with strikes, and policy gloom on the horizon the mood is surprisingly upbeat.
The unexpected jovial mood at the conference isn’t swaying Allison who is adamant that voters will be staying home in the upcoming by-elections, and that its leaders and decision makers deserve a period of petenance that might follow a potential epic defeat next year.
Whilst Liam, from his position in the hustle and bustle of the conference sees the real energy coming from the fringes of the party such as Liz Truss and her rousing ‘pro growth’ speech.
Joining the co-pilots on the rocket this week from Conference is former Home Secretary Priti Patel, who gives her take on the ‘woke blob’ running Whitehall, and why she believes a Tory victory is still possible in 2024.

And ‘Mike’ not only gets a prize mug but must feel like one as he – and many others – struggle against a tide of government ineptitude. And next year we’ll get ‘Starmer World’ which will accelerate our decline into an economic back water, as our Thatcher legacy is not just dismantled but erased from every aspect of national life. I hope I’m wrong but I see the evidence all around me.
Agree with Alison, they do need some time in the wilderness to reform their conservative vision. However, that will result with Starmer taking us back into the EU in everyway he can. So, it doesn't look like we have the luxury to let them go through that inevitable process while in opposition. Will have to hope thay can achieve the same while in power.
Alison is incredibly out of touch with the mood at the Tory conference.
The sooner the tory party are utterly destroyed, the sooner an actual conservative party can break through.
They are not just the biggest threat to conservative policies, they are actively destroying the UK with their illiberal, unconservative, globalist drivel.
Business lobbies are running immigration policy. Successive Governments, Labour and Conservative, have run immigration for the benefit of the economy. They have ignored the social and cultural impact of large-scale immigration.

The polls aren't gloomy at all! As an EX Tory voter (lifelong, 66 years of age), I can NOT wait to see the current cabal of corrupt, lying, inept self serving, profiteering right-wing CON merchants ousted – and if there's any common sense and justice left amongst the electorate, banished forever. Strip out our undemocratic, feudal FPTP system – which was designed by the Ruling Class solely to protect and perpetute the Ruling Class – and replace it with some form of fair and honest PR that is really representative of the majority. Give the PEOPLE what they want, require and vote for democratically. NOT what a tiny handful of the ruling elite deign to dole out, namely, whatever they can lie about and think they can get away with. The people in power are NOT Conservatives.
