#whatshanginwednesday – Platycerium bifurcatum (staghorn fern) – one of my favourite plants in my collection: over the last 3 years, it has grown from a single plant in a 6″ pot, been mounted and remounted, and the main plant has reached maturity by producing spores (the brown fuzzy patch on the underside of a fertile frond). Over the years, dozens of fronds have fallen and nearly all have some brownish tips but I know the plant is growing well so I’ve accepted such losses as part of the leaf life cycle.
