After asking for input from viewers a few months ago, I finally have my first chicks. I waited until it warmed up a bit, and bought my chicks from the local store where they had been for about 2 weeks. Since this is my first time raising chickens, I decided to go small. I bought 3 Black Sex Links, and 3 Australorps. Both varieties are known for good production of large brown eggs, just what I’m looking for. These birds are very well behaved and my wife has already started naming them. The largest one is now known as Bertha…Big Bertha. If I can keep the predators away, these girls will have a very good life. 🙂
