Virtually unknown plant native to North America. It’s called the Beautyberry because it’s gorgeous. It’s also drought tolerant, disease/pest-free and deer do NOT eat it! It’s a fantastic shrub and beautyberry is edible. This vid shows the American Beautyberry, Callicarpa americana.
The Japanese Beautyberry is Callicarpa japonica. Another Asian variety is Purple Beautyberry (Callicarpa dichotoma).
