Memphis Herb Society September 2023 Meeting – Container Gardening

Hello and welcome to Old Ways Gardening and Prepping.🍀 Would like to welcome you each along with me on a long awaited trip to the monthly Memphis Herb Society meeting. It has been way too long since I have been able to make it to the meeting. Plus me finally getting to go back on the night a dear friend is doing the workshop makes it even better.

Container Gardening
with Urania Erskine

Long time MHS member Urania (“Reni”) Erskine will give us an overview of different types of containers that can be used or made. There will also be a demonstration on how to build a self-watering container as a labor-saving and water-wise device.

Reni was born in Austria, and her family still resides in a small village in the foothills of the Austrian Alps. Like others who have made these foothills their home, Reni’s Austrian family historically relied upon the bounty of their gardens and farm for food and medicine.

The traditional practices of the area’s small Austrian farm households guide Reni’s own interest and experimentation in the home vegetable and herb garden, in the care of her chickens and bees, and also in the traditional food preservation and culinary arts

Hope you each enjoy the meeting as much as I did. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them in the comment section below I will answer them as soon as possible. Everyone take care and have a blessed day. ❤🍀🦉

Blessings,
Teresa 🦉

  1. This has inspired me to expand my container gardening adventure! Looks like in a pinch, you can grow in just about anything you can find. Great use of available items and repurposing them! Love the wall of gutters filled with plants. What an excellent use of space. I’m going to be more creative in my container options! Thank you so much for sharing, Teresa❤

  2. Oh my goodness! I'm not far from Memphis! You've inspired me to go to the MBG.
I don't know why I've never been because I love botanical gardens. I used to go when I was in Virginia and Florida, but I've never been to the one right at my back door:)
