  1. Thank you for our video.

    CAFFEINE!

It's all about the drugs. Aaaaaand my junkie is showing.

The most abundant form of protein after a serious SHTF event or three will be called "foragers". Oops! I mean "deer" of course.
That's what deer do isn't it? Forage?

The starvation makes people sooo confused! "I dunno, it looked like a deer to me", …. drool, drool, ..

    I know, my bad.

It's a fact that the vast majority of people will never forage, or they will die trying and this is a good thing. It leaves more for ME!

Selfish I know, but I'm working on that.

I don't think I could forage enough to sustain myself here in the Great White North without killing a whack of harmless animals. Harmless but tasty animals.
Thank god there's an invasive species here called Striped Bass to be caught by the thousands. That fish is real good poached and canned up but I'm not fond of it fried.
Next I'll try Salting this Bass and I'd like to try fermenting the carcasses for fish sauce. Nothing ventured nothing gained, as they say.

Right now I have my little flock of Chickens and I could be hatching eggs year round if I needed to. Just one chicken a week for eating means 52 chickens a year and they take a while to mature enough to Lay eggs or eat.
Six to eight months depending on how hungry you are but at least eight months for eggs and once you start getting eggs, you're not killing that bird are you?

I need a Ton of whole Corn (literally) and it's a good thing the local Grain Elevator will sell it to me too.

I believe there's a watercress type plant that grows in clean running water year round here that's packed with vitamin C. and that's as much as I know, … well, maybe a little more. Rosehips and whatnot.

It's been so long since I've done any kind of exploring "off grid" and I know how out of shape I am. Oh well, it sucks to be me.

The last time I went out I was looking for Chaga mushroom and I found some too. Then I went the wrong way back because I thought it was faster and got tangled up in a wet bushy area. Made it, but just barely.

Keep up the great work and good luck.

  2. Do you have any suggestions for foraging books for the Pacific Northwest? Grape leaves are the only local ones that you mentioned. I love the bandana idea withe the netting. Thanks!

  3. I do not like those apps. They are wrong so often. Especially mushrooms. I taught myself most of my foraging knowledge using field manuals and trial and error.
My best advice is find one you see often. Find in your books. Then go find at least 20 different spots with that plant. It will help you differentiate and become more selective.
I have that book and i like it alot

  4. I thought chicory was also a source of caffeine? Or is that one not native?
Omg the “woah” for the spider…I’ve seen those wolf spiders, good eye 😮
