We’re back together having all of the garden (and random) chats! I went over to @DaintyDiaries this week on a miserable rainy day to film where we chatted about our summer learnings, some garden plans for the future and went off on many tangents as we do best!
What were your learnings from the summer and what are your plans for the garden this autumn or for spring next year?

Iv bought a lot of bulbs from farmer gracey and a lot didn't come up.
You two are hilarious 😆
I’m in Melbourne and thrilled that spring has sprung !
We are having a massive problem with aphid atm , I hate the little buggers 😆🐨
It's the chlorine in tap water that plants don't like, but if u fill up a bucket and leave it after about 2 hours, the chlorine has gone . So anyone with water barrels do fill from the tap when needed 😊 chlorine doesn't last after a few hours. I've a little bit of grass and borders around and iv seen and read u need to water the grass because the grass will take water from the beds and also the other way around. So when there's a drought the roots will go deeper looking for water and watering the grass helps.
I propigated my gaura too and it's doing well. I also just divided my perennial salvia that's 3 years old and I got 7 plants out of the 2 I divided. I also transplanted some of my ajuga ground cover that was starting spreading past where I wanted it to. I can't wait to divide my sedum next spring and more of my hostas next spring as well. I love using what I already have to fill in and make more plants. I recently joined my tows garden club and I think it will invigorated me during the late fall and winter!!
So great to see y’all back together for chitchat! Y’all are hilarious. I needed the laughs. Thank you both🧡💛🤎🍂🦔
In art college we had to do life drawing block. 2 weeks looking at people in the nip. 😂
You ladies bring me so much joy.
Such a great chat….💗💗💗☕️ looking forward for next month….Blessings Ladies 🌻🤗
Epson salt on top of the soil around the base of your plants will keep the slugs off plus the plants love it. Especially roses 🌹 it great plant food. Don’t mix it in the soil. The plant takes what it wants for a month or so.
The two of you always have me in tears from laughing so hard. I just love these chats!
Have a great week,
xoxo's Sandie
Luv u gals…and I'm not even a gardener 💕
I love Sarah too xx
You two are truly ‘soup for my soul’ this morning. I feel like I’m right there with you, sipping a good cup ☕️. The rain is so calming, and your laughs are so invigorating. Thank you so much from my Michigan chair this morning 🌻🍂🧡🍁🧡
Are we sure that's only coffee in those cups ladies 🤣😂🤣
Oh you girls give me a giggle 😂 I enjoy your monthly chats about everything with you both and they are informative too 😉 Take care of yourself, Karen, now that you're getting better. Thank you Catherine and Karen for sharing your chats 😊
Good fun listening to you two , thanks for that. I honestly don’t know how you fit in all your activities Catherine, I’m retired and I could do with someone to help me in my garden I am 75 so I don’t quite have the stamina I once had but even so I think the amount of time you spend putting out these videos along with all the other aspects of your lives and your day jobs is amazing I thank you for the entertainment you girls provide ❤️❤️
Ding, ding, ding, funniest conversation I have heard for a while.
I wonder if you had the commercial for, snickers or mars bar ( I can't quite remember which one) like we did in Australia.
So it's a life drawing class and the young man gets his spot and ready to start.
And then he hears, as she takes her robe off, " Hello Love " He nearly dies and says " " oh hi mum ".
If you haven't seen it you might be able to google it.
Every time I saw it I would be in hysterics.
Oh and I saw an add for new crocs and if you get them and wear them I'm going to throw up. Shrek Crocs. I know, I'll wait, it won't be long before you're wearing them.
So glad you're better Karen. Love you both. ♥♥
I used copper tape to stop the slugs and snails. But I used chilli powder and cinnamon powder to stop the ants and earwigs getting at my vegetables. Plus I planted marigolds (tagetes) inbetween the veggies which stopped the flies etc. Am loving the chats, as they are a great source of info. 😊
My girls are back yay ❤
I had to replace my weed eater battery so I got a two pack. That has been great so I don't have to wait so long before I get back to work.
Just love you guys! So nice to hear your chat with the rain falling. Haven’t heard that sound in months here in Iowa USA
My family have been in Wiltshire, England for a year. My son started a veg garden, tomatoes, pumpkins, gem squash and marrow. Omw he had a bumper harvest, the only plant that ended up with the white powdered mildew was the marrow, fortunately soon after he harvested the veg. Nothing nicer than freshly picked veg.
This is the first year my tomatoes had blight. Too close together and not enough air circulation between plants. I pulled them out and will plant them in a different bed next year. My yellow corn was a total fail, the cobs are going over the fence for the squirrels and chipmunks. I learned to mark the flowers I want to save the seed heads by writing the colour and flower name on a bit of painters tape and wrap that loosely around the stem.
Love your chats ladies you are so funny together, keeping it light, Sarah Raven has some lovely things a bit more expensive from her catalogue which are great to look through but always something different you can buy from her, will have to check out her podcast, take care xx
Love your chat today, I felt like I was there. Raining here, too. Glad that you are well, Karen, I was wondering where you were. Laurie
Awe the Love is so sweet🥰 must’ve been scary for you Catherine to think you’d need bring her the blessings. May you both be blessed with loads of health this upcoming season 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
So cringey given what’s happening today , ten years later . Subtlety asks about her dad , talks about torturing a dog and such
Love listening to you two! 😂😂 banana tree, live art classes…😂😂😂
I learned this year that ranunculus is extremely hard to grow(did manage some flowers but they all died shortly afterwards) and that if you don’t stake your dahlias they will schlump over everywhere…. Next year I will stake them up!!!😊
A Willy, bwah ha ha! 3D!! Lol Thanks, ladies! Love from Indiana!
I love your garden chit chats, so much fun!
❤️🤗👍🏼
Thank you for sharing your natters, you're great company 😊
✨🙌
You both would love the book Cool Flowers by Lisa Mason-Ziggler
Gives all the info on sowing seeds at this time for the best spring head start
